California firearms manufacturer moving to Wyoming

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Firearms manufacturer Weatherby Inc. is relocating its manufacturing operations and corporate headquarters from California to Wyoming, marking another catch by Wyoming of a company abandoning a state that isn’t as gun friendly.

Weatherby’s move to Sheridan is expected to create 70 to 90 jobs and more than $5 million in annual payroll over the next five years.

A smart business decision! California isn’t the wild west any more. It’s determined to become Northern Mexico, or probably N.Venezuela, because they like socialism so much.

I think you misread it. It's $5 million in annual payroll over 5 years. That's $25 million over the five years.

Why do they even do that? Is Weatherby planning on closing their doors in 5 years? Or could they just as easily say, $5 million in annual payroll over the next 10 years? Or 20 years?

Best estimate for short-term operations, probably. Folks are going to want to know what the company is going to do, and short term, they're saying x number of employees with a payroll of y...

I’m sure it’s just another example of what passes for journalism these days. $5M would be the annual payroll, where the 5 years came from, who knows?
