The Shape Of Water, Dunkirk and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri received the most nods as the announcements for the Academy Awards nominations 2018 were made in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning. Christopher Plummer, 88, the actor who replaced disgraced Kevin Spacey at the very last minute, has received a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his part in All The Money In The World. Other shock names included, musician Mary J. Blige who received her first Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category, and Octavia Spencer who became the first black actress to receive multiple-nominations at the 90th annual awards.

“Dunkirk” so-so, saw “Shape of Water” - very interesting.
A Sci-Fi movie?......................
I saw all but “Phantom Thread” and “Call Me By Your Name”. I would say that “Three Billboards” and “The Shape of Water” meet the Academy requirement for weirdness needed for winning Best Picture.
I think most will be surprised that Dunkirk wins best picture, Gary Oldman wins for playing Churchill in Darkest Hour, and Nolan wins as director for Dunkirk. It’ll be a very British ceremony. I think most folks will buy Darkest Hour and Dunkirk DVDs and play them over and over.
Can’t remember when I last cared about any award show. Maybe it’s because I lived in Los Angeles for 40 years and saw numerous so-called stars in real life. Really nothing special about almost all of them. I can only think of a handful who were genuinely impressive. Bo Derek because she is honestly gorgeous even without makeup. Charlton Heston because...Heston. Seriously amazing man. John Forsyth because he was a truly nice person. Cary Grant because...just wow. Even in his elderly years he was so charismatic. Mohammed Ali for the same reason, even though he was clearly afflicted with Parkinsons at the time. That’s about it.
“The Shape of Water”, as I understand it, was inspired by the 1950’s horror film “Creature from the Black Lagoon”.
Mixed into a pot of rabid Cold War McCarthyism. IOW, a leftist “wet” dream.
I agree....Dunkirk was ok. There was so much more they could have done with the movie.
Seriously, what Millenial, or most others would have any interest in watching such boring distorted tripe. Well, I guess perhaps the deep state types in the DC and NY area loved it. But outside of small parochial pockets, I just don't get who or why anyone would finance this film. And, I cannot imagine there is much of any foreign market for this either. Weird. But then... Hollywood.
Oh, it's a Hilliary bio-pic................
Let me guess... Another Hollyweird libtard government love-fest?
LOL
Who really gives a good rodents rectum about Hollyweirds self-congratulations and liberal drama queen spews?

Meryl Streep nominated for the 100th time. I think they just leave her name on every year.
Yeah it dropped nearly 40% over the weekend. That’s pretty bad.
No doubt this year's Oscars will be more Politicized than before. I imagine I can find an old Oscar telecast on You-tube that will be better, maybe with Bob Hope or Johnny Carson hosting.
The most liberal film will win.
Gary Oldman is pretty Conservative and I don’t think they will give the Oscar. I would like to be surprised. They may give it to Lewis since he says he is retiring.
My only other prediction is I think, based on sentimentality, that Plummer will win for “All the Money In the World”.
