In a Senate-floor speech Saturday, Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) blasted President Trump as a five-deferment draft dodger and accused him of trying to bait North Korea into a war, putting both the military and the national security of the United States at risk.
It was a moment of fire for Duckworth, a veteran who lost both of her legs in 2004 while serving in the Iraq War, and who has advocated for military and disability issues since she was elected to national public office in 2012.
Duckworth said Saturday her speech was prompted by a tweet Trump had posted Saturday morning accusing Democrats of holding our Military hostage to have unchecked illegal immigration. The tweet was just one of many partisan attacks Trump launched over the weekend trying to blame Democrats for a congressional budget stalemate that had led to a shutdown of the federal government.
That Trump would accuse Democrats like herself of not caring about the military was galling, Duckworth said.

So if I can find at least 5 disabled Veterans who call Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton lying, traitorous pieces of dog zhit can we accept that as Law as well?
This person, as a registered Democrat holding office, has reneged any claim to caring about the country, the military, or the Constitution.
For people like her, ideologic dogma trumps all.
Was she one of the 18 who voted against?
Yep. Spot on post.
Like it or not Duckworth, Trump is now Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States of America.
And you are not.
At least Trump showed up for his draft physical, unlike Clinton.
And he did not forge his Selective Service application card, like Obama did.
And you have never said a word about either one of them.
More proof that being a wounded veteran doesn’t automatically make one a respectable person....
Good question...no. She apparently feared a backlash, IMO.
In her position, people would have seen her for exactly what she is if she had voted that way. The libs aren’t too up in arms that she flipped her vote here, since they understand all too well the Islamic concept of Taquiyya, the license to lie and deceive to further the cause...in their case, Islam, in Duckworth’s case, Leftism.
The only good Leftist is a Gutless Ideological Leftist...because that is the only kind they make.
Yes...Benedict Arnold made that evident a couple of centuries ago, when he was a hero, and was wounded, only to betray his country for personal gain.
Duckworth is following his path.
I kinda though we would be past the Vietnam War “draft dodger” thing by now.
And I’m sure she supported Hillary, who is married to that drat dodger Bill.
After Bill Clinton dems have a lot of nerve.
Trump’s draft lottery number was 356.
Mine was 342.
They never got past 98.
But let’s just pretend there was no draft lottery so we can claim Trump was a draft-dodger.
“That Trump would accuse Democrats like herself of not caring about the military was galling, Duckworth said.”
How did she vote? That tells us whether she cared or not.
After Bill Clinton, the Democrats should not call anyone a "draft dodger."
After Barack Obama, the Democrats should not call anyone incompetent.
It’s too bad that she’s a mouthpiece for the rotten Democrats.
I guess she is really proud of B. J. Clinton’s commendable service in the military!
Did Biden tell her to stand up for the crowd...yet?
I guess if this line doesn’t work, perhaps she’ll ‘show some leg’ to Trump - and then call him a BIGOT when he responds.
...on second thought.
Sen. Tammy Duckworth as an Army officer, helicopter pilot and double amputee who lost her legs in combat should be proud of herself, her service and her country.
Unfortunately she is not. She is a bitter woman that insults the current United States President and Commander in Chief of our armed forces because of her political partisanship.
She is also a liar, what she said on the Senate floor was totally inappropriate and only reflects her animus of President Donald Trump.
