The Doberman was taken in after he was found wandering around Birmingham New Street station on his own.
Believing he was a stray, the volunteers took him on a trip to the vets only to discover he had been microchipped, tracing him back to Huddersfield - a three-hour journey.
But the chip had no contact number for the canines owners, so the now-homeless pooch has been taken in by Hilbrae Kennels in Telford, Shropshire.
Volunteers at the kennels believe the clever dog must have somehow managed to swap trains at Manchester Piccadilly, which link Birmingham New Street with Huddersfield.

A handsome boy! Hopefully his owners are looking for him.
“The Doberman was taken in after he was found wandering around Birmingham New Street station on his own.”
Fake headline. They have absolutely no indication that it was on a train, merely, at the station.
Could’ve been lost/left there.
Could be bureaucratic error with the chip, e.g., young, aspiring, brit-socialist, mixes up the id with the wrong owner.
dobie ping
My Baloney has a first name.
They could probably take him for a walk at or near the station where they think he started, and let him sniff his way to his neighborhood and his home.
Make him Prime Minister or at least Mayor of London.
Fake headline. They have absolutely no indication that it was on a train, merely, at the station.

That’s what I was thinking. Yet they even claim that he transferred. Idiots.
What if he had a ticket?..................
The Dog took the right Trains and the Owner took the wrong Trains ,LOL
Years ago I was riding the bus between from MIT to Harvard Square. At one stop the doors opened, a few people got off, and a German Shepherd got on, alone. About a dozen stops later, the doors opened and a few people got on, and the Shepherd got off, alone. Everyone on the bus looked at each other and smiled.
A coyote boarded and rode a shuttle train to get to the Portland Airport, years ago.
I wonder how many people get their dog microchipped and then don’t realize that they have to also register their dog! A micrchip will only provide a number. That number has to be linked to the dog’s human.
Wait, he’s a dog, so maybe he hitched a ride on the Greyhound....
LOL!..........
My dogs’ chips are hooked to several registries, just in case.
Can’t be too careful.
It *should* be on record where the chip was done.
Perhaps whomever put the chip in might remember the dog.
Along with the registries, my dogs’ chips are linked to my vet, as well.
At least, I hope they can backtrack the dog that way.
He looks like someone, somewhere, loves him very much and is grieving for him.
That's what I thought. Until I went to do an address change. That's when I found out the vet does nothing except insert the chip. I was in Afghanistan when my dog was chipped, and my wife apparently didn't get the word on registering or spaced it.
