Or launched atop a “single stick” SRB.
Where is this top secret base?
I’m assuming Eglin. We have the McKinley Climatic Laboratory here for Freeze & Fry testing. But although I.ve seen everything here from the Space Shuttle to the B2, I’ve never seen this.................
Next to my work....................
Maybe built by the same guys.
We’ll know when they start drafting midgets.................
Exactly. Russians dropped billions chasing ghosts.
We got screwed that way ourselves once - the atomic bomber.
We did early work on it, and decided that while it could be done, we probably shouldn’t.
Then an article appeared in Aviation Week saying the Soviets were ACTUALLY FLYING THEM.
We ended up chasing our tail some more, only to find the article was a hoax, planted.
Looks like the drone runway at Tyndall AFB. Looks like a drone to me.
If it were Chicago the damn thing would be up on blocks.
“Its probably a prototype for use in the wind tunnel”
Yeah, or a fiber glass mockup (or both)
The runway is not kept up nor near long enough for a landing of this kind of craft and what is that very similar shaped object at 11:00 about a hundred yards from the “UFO”?
I think its a jet powered gator huntin boat.
“I doubt any plane traveling at 4,602 mph could be manned.”
The space shuttle was.
The faster you go the higher you go. Anything going that fast would be WAY up where the air is almost not there.
They reported on the local news that Tyndall just got a squadron of drones.
They showed a short video of one and it was really big, nearly as large as a fighter.
That kind of speed takes a lot of fuel — unless it’s really a glider for most of its flight, which could make some sense, in that you’d have one less thing to conceal (i.e., not giant fireball behind you).
There just isn’t enough room for fuel for any sort of long distance travel at speed.
That said, I could see something like this getting dropped, using rocket power to get to 4700mph, then coasting over target.
It also has a drone look about it, which would also save a lot of space.
WELL...I’ve lived in the the place for 5 yrs plus (souheast fl) and never HEARD the sound of MILITARY aircraft until last week, and used to live right by old McD in St.Louis—The thing I heard was louder than anything I ever heard at/in St.Louis....Of course Donald was just down the way also at the time....
None of the above. Not even a base. Just a tiny strip.
Here are the coordinates, if you care to Google maps it:
26 Degrees 55’42.29N
80 degrees 20’24.30W
On Florida 710 between Indiantown and Palm Beach Gardens. Just Northwest (about 1.6 miles) of the William P Gwinn Airport in Jupiter.
There’s also another one (without wings?) behind the squat building.
Didn’t the allies use a lot of inflatable “tanks” parked in England to convince the Germans that Patton would be leading the “real” D-day invasion at someplace other than Normandy.
Clearly that’s just a weather balloon.
If you go to that place on Google Earth you can see a similar object (smaller) like just 100 feet north of it.
