Much has been made of Markles native country, her race and her divorce but her confidence and social ease prove she is above all a Californian.
She seems to be an appropriate ambassador for things that Californians hold dear, said William Deverell, a historian of the American west at the University of Southern California. Her poise and confidence and social ease; its not perfect out here but we have a more equitable view of life.
British viewers of her televised interview with Prince Harry marvelled at how she appeared so informal and relaxed, so un-Windsor, while viewers in Los Angeles took it for granted.
LA kids like that are not fazed by fame, said Colleen Dunn Bates, author of the book Talk Like a Californian. Theyre not star-struck. She grew up not being impressed by celebrities so shes not intimidated. She can see him as a person and not a celebrity.
The cliche of southern Californians being relaxed had truth, said Dunn Bates, whose own daughters attend Markles old high school, the all-girl Immaculate Heart in Los Feliz, near Hollywood. Were an informal people. We have our own language and dress casually.
But Californians also work hard, not least those in the entertainment industry. She saw her dad busting his butt, said Dunn Bates, referring to Thomas Markle, a TV lighting director. The path she chose actress is very hard. You have to be very disciplined about it.

Yes, 3 years, 4 years max. That will be enough time to wear off the physical infatuation. I saw her in some movie recently and she is a great kisser. The prince probably was never kissed like that before haha..
Tell us bad things about her!
Hell, the monarchy will likely crumble within four or five years. Just can’t see Prince Charles with old bag Camilla leading with any type of charisma, class, or competence, nor Prince William, as charming as he is. By the time the wee little Charlotte is old enough to assume the throne, Britain will have been taken over by the current “refugees.”
The death of Elizabeth II will be the end of this monarchy as we’ve always known it.
dear lastchance,
re: ‘Mulatto is rather an offensive term. But you know that.”
“mulatto” is the dictionary term listed in my 4th edition Webster’s Collegiate dictionary, and the term first told to me, while i lived in Southern California, when the white girl-black guy thing was all the rage.
If you find it ‘offensive’, grow a pair.
A “California Anything” is the last thing UK & the monarchy need! It will quickly move from quant to carve.
quant = quaint
I do know it is in the dictionary.
