Wooo-hooo! I was in Paris last week and I met an Iranian-French woman and her French husband. Her family had fled just as the “Islamic Revolution” took over. It made the whole thing come back to mind.

About 25 years ago, on one of my trips to Mexico, I happened to see the place where the Shah, dying of cancer, had fled. It was a nice resort near Mexico City (the old Cortez sugar mill) and they had redone the large suite Iranian style - lots of gold and mirrors. But Jimmy Carter, Marxist that he was, really wanted nothing to do with the Shah, even though the Shah had been a great anti-Islamist reformer, but finally let him into the US for cancer treatment. There are discussions about whether that surgery was intentionally botched, and the dying Shah went on to seek refuge elsewhere.

Carter was a weak, naive and confused leftist, caught in things he could not understand, and virtually every decision he made was the wrong one. When the Islamic Communist Revolution took our people hostage in retaliation for treating the Shah - which Carter was right in doing, but probably didn’t carry out well, since he should have allowed the Shah to stay in the US - his every decision was wrong. He wouldn’t come out and just demand them back, or otherwise “the bombing would start in five minutes.” I still remember the horrible night when the failure to rescue the hostages was announced on TV and Carter came on, droopy as usual. And in fact I think he was even wearing his blue sweater because he had turned down the heat in the WH.

So this is bringing back a whole raft of memories, and I hope this time, with Trump’s support, they’ll get the mullahs out of there.

Jimmah Carter at 93 is still America’s badwill ambassador to the world, badmouthing our President if Republican, and roiling the Middle East worse than it already is.

He’ll soon be joined by his chief understudy Barack Hussein Obama.

The Peanut does not want Iranian seekers of liberty to succeed. Neither does Obama & he’s already proven it. A hostile nuclear Iran does what these two want the most: deliver comeuppance to the “imperialist U.S. & its lackeys in Israel”.

Carter and his administration were totally morons. They ruled that all federal buildings and offices had to have the air conditioning turned off after 5PM.

I was stationed on Titan II ICBM Missile Combat Crew in Wichita, Kansas, when this ruling came down. The first thing that happened was the barracks were ordered to have the AC shut off permanently. The Pentagon stated that since the barracks should be empty during the day because everybody was supposed to be at work, the AC didn't need to be on at all since the temps would go down at night. In Wichita the temps would be above 100 degrees during the day and somewhere around 90+ at night. My brick barracks would be around 105 degrees inside during the night. We were told we could not open the windows and to do so would get us Non-Judicial Punishment (Article 15). Missile crews, bomber crews, and shift workers were never considered and the Base did not shut down the ACs completely, they just "unloaded" the water chillers. Since the chillers were still pumping the warm water throughout the barracks it was considered to be cooling so windows had to remain closed.

The more insane thing was the Pentagon ordered the ICBM complexes to turn of the AC systems after 5PM. The Titan II ICBM was liquid fuel and oxidizer and had to have a Launch Duct temperature of about 55 degrees to maintain safe and operational tank pressures.

Strategic Air Command HQ told the idiots at the Pentagon that the ICBM fleet had to have the ACs working 24/7 to maintain operational readiness and Carter's SECDEF refused and ordered all military facilities to shut down at 5PM. CINCSAC ordered the missile Wings to ignore the SECDEF order and keep the systems running.

It wasn't until Reagan took office that the barracks were allowed to have the ACs turned on.

The Shah passed away more than 35 years ago.
