A 17-year-old Texas high school student was shot and killed while trying to sell marijuana to two suspects on Christmas Eve, police said.
The incident took place shortly after 9pm on Sunday when officers with the Irving Police Department responded to a shooting report in the 200 block of Red River Trail.
Arriving at the scene, the cops found 17-year-old Brett Adkins, of Plano, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the left chest.

Some people don’t seem to consider the type of people they have to deal with in order to buy or sell drugs. Scary people. A far bigger deterrent to thinking people than even worrying about getting caught by law enforcement.
“Why is it that the richest, most successful peoples kids so often turn out to be scum?”
They’re not. What’s happening is that the rich guy’s son is news, while the poor guy’s son is not. Statistically, the poor are many times likely to be criminal scum than the rich. But that does jive well with the classwarfare narrative.
.
I don’t need to change anything but underwear.
I didn’t make the rash statement.
.
Thank God many of us do indeed live under the cabbage!
What a wonderful prospect- “yep, I am sure glad my kids are worldly enough to know when to back off from a drug sale about to go bad”; anyone else see a problem with this picture?
I am indeed blessed to have children who were informed enough to know better, and naïve enough to just smile at the turds who wanted their affections.... must done ‘em well, looking out at the world from under the cabbage and watchful eyes of a loving and present mommy and daddy.
Kudos to my wife for all the tough love she provided when I was away on “business”.
Maybe you’ll get that chance then
Meanwhile, continue to moralize on the grief of families such as this one
Lots and lots of people buy and sell drugs, we hear about those that come from wealth and fame because that is what sells papers. If the local delivery truck guy, janitor, or bartender on the corner lost a son in a drug deal that would not interest many or sell papers.
If you notice people are shot pretty frequently in drug deals gone bad; most of the time their parents are not even mentioned if there is an article written about it.
Call them scum and let them just feel the love then
West is reportedly the high school with the biggest drug problem in town. But crime is low because the parents give the kids enough unaccountable money to buy what they need, so there isn’t any drug related crime.
Unusual that a Plano West kid would be selling to strangers near the old Cowboys training facility.
Oh hes already dead and little did we know about love until we buried him
I really dont know why i even bother with hard hearts like yours
They added immeasurably to our pain and still do
I do have faith in cosmic payback
Bye
.
Your kids may do many things about which you haven’t the foggiest notion. that’s good cuz it means they respect you enough not to let it slip.
What a bunch of unfeeling jealous assholes you are. You sound just like Leftists.
.
>> “Because theyre so busy being rich and successful that they often dont have time for family?” <<
No!
Because the family is well enough known that the newspaper makes an issue of it. The poor kid? Who cares, they’re expected to lose.
.
LOL! Cosmic payback? As in “karma?” I thought this was a Christian site. Perhaps you got lost?
I can see you slobbering all over your son in his “gay wedding,” just to be “loving.”
The Trumps are the exception.
"...instead of taking the test he took two to the chest..."
P.O.D.
You seen to mistake success and being rich as somehow inoculating a person from being scum. Many rich and successful people are scum and their children tend to be scum too.
I will now type something politically incorrect: Any story with a dead drug dealer is a story with a happy ending.
Some people have trouble saying “no” to their kids and the consequences of that can be compounded with wealth. I’ll just leave it at that.
I’m not going to say that I would be happy with a drug-dealing child, much less a dead one, but rather grief stricken.
I’d be examining my entire life in the minutest points to discover where I went wrong, if possible.
But that would not negate the fact that the drug-dealing child is scum. How many other people were destroyed because of his “business?”
I love my soon to be 16 YO son, but we ain't leaving him home alone when we go on vacation.
Not that I needed confirmation, but I'm glad I took early retirement (effective 12/31) to focus on him. He's a good kid, but needs extra help and supervision (until the ship is righted)...besides, my job sucked anyway and I was in a position to move on.
We also have a 7 YO grandson that splits his time between his mom and dad. My parents divorced when I was that age, and I have a lot of bad memories from that. We're doing our best to create a positive environment.
“Yeah drug buying probably. Gone bad obviously.”
Odd because white suburban kids can go to the hood and safely buy drugs...they don’t kill their customers. But this guy may have been stepping on the wrong peoples’ toes or maybe they just ripped him off.
