We got a deal for our daughter, we didn’t pay a grand. She loves her phone.

But I have to confess, the only reason that we got it was because of the deal and her old phone was cracked and damaged.

Who doesn’t want to buy a phone from a company caught red handed disabling perfectly good older phones?

We all now have Androids since my daughter got rid of her Apple phone. She said they were just crap, and some of her friends at school are now getting rid of Apple.

If you you really want iPhone and need a new one the best deal is the iPhone SE. They are much less in price and work fine. Beats paying a grand for a phone.

No cell phone manufacturer wants to say it publicly, but we may have already reached “Peak iphone Marketability”.
There will always be techies and collectors who want the latest model, but just maybe the majority of consumers don’t see any reason to keep changing phones year after year.

Perhaps most their needs have already been met. A scary thought indeed for Big Phone. Apple should not worry. They already have their billions, and can diversify into other projects at will. At very least, maybe wait a few years before releasing the next ‘updated’ model.

The new iPhone X design makes the same mistake as New Coke.

The iPhones were always visually distinct, because of the Home Button, which was Apple’s proprietary design. The Home Button reflects the single button mouse, that has been unique part of Apple design since the 1970s.

But with the iPhone X, Apple threw all that away to make a phone that looks just like an Android phone.

If my iPhone is going to look just like a Samsung Galaxy phone, I am much more likely to compare the two on the basis of features, performance and price.

This is like Coke throwing out their successful formula to make a drink that tastes just like Pepsi. This is a monumental blunder.

“No way paying a grand for a cell phone.

I’d bet most are sold under the payment/automatic upgrade plan Apple offers.

This is a different business model than just offering a new model for sale and puts a nice fence around their herd. They profit continually and have iCLOUD, itunes music, books, videos, and the App Store to continually milk the herd.

The Android model is to sell cheap by using your harvested privacy to sell to others.

Choices! They make the world go round.

I don’t know - I see that notch at the top and I think this is not a product Steve Jobs would have let ship. Fix the notch and put a fingerprint reader in the display and I’ll buy one.

My poor student son got himself one. He is thrilled. He just has to turn on his Uber Eats app a couple more times to make the extra $40 a month payment. For a music student always on the road, it’s the best computer you can have in your jeans pocket.

I am one who thinks that Apple, wealthy beyond imagining, has lost its way under its current board and leadership team.

They will coast for a while, perhaps a good while, on their cash and on selling nihilistic or degenerate music to teenagers, but my six-Mac/iPhone only household is slowly making the transition to Windows.

Some of this may well be fake news.

We both got iPhone Xs for Christmas, but we got them about 2 weeks before, so I have a little user experience.

Best phone ever. Period.

Face recognition beats the stuffing out of fingerprint. End of story. Try it — you will like it.

While I was getting them, I watched the traffic in the store. Not super scientific, but at least it is a data point. They sold 8 iPhone Xs and one something else while I was waiting.

Only Apple knows the sales figures right now, and they aren’t telling. Everything else is speculation. Right this minute Apple stock is on sale.

P.S. DW already had an Apple Watch — I got one of those also. Amazing little gadget. Works seamlessly with the iPhone and the health benefits may be worth it alone.

Why would I pay $1,000 for a phone when I can buy a perfectly good phone from AT&T for $29.99?

I have it. I like it. I wouldn't call it revolutionary.

If you can't afford the upgrade, you really aren't missing anything mandatory. OLED screen is nice, Face ID works very well, and the chip is ultra-fast. But I don't think we are going to see radical new software to take advantage of the iPhone X's capabilities for some time, so the user experience doesn't change that much if you are coming from any of the 6 or 7 series iPhones.

According to "unidentified supply chain officials," the Apple iPhone X sales are less than anticipated, with one Asian anal-cyst dropping his estimate of Last quarter sales of iPhone X by an absurd 25 MILLION UNITS!. . . except REAL analysts, looking at REAL orders find their claims are not true. . . but that hasn't stopped market rats to flee onto the hawsers.

From SeekingAlpha:
"Zhang writes that he specifically sees no cuts to parts for " 3-D Sensing," a reference to the " Face ID" feature in the front-facing camera of the iPhone X. And he's also seen no cut in orders for OLED-based phone panels. Those two data points are "specific components for the iPhone X," he notes."

The results the anal-cysts were reporting had actually been reported earlier in December with the shift over from production in the iPhone 8/8+ to iPhone X production and the ramping up to meet that production demand. In addition, the October through December quarter just finishing is the largest sales quarter of the year, followed by lowest sales quarter of the year in the January through March period. It is natural for Apple to reduce part orders and ramp down production leading into the next two slow sales quarters. There is nothing to see here except hype and FUD from Asian Android phone sellers.

Bret Kennell, writing in an editorial in "The Street" asks are “We really going to trim off nearly 3% of Apple’s roughly $900 billion market cap — a swing of approximately $25 billion! — over a report from an outlet most investors have never heard of citing ‘unidentified supply chain officials?” Well, that's what those panicked hawser running rats have just done. Amazing. — PING!
