Was shocked to read this. Knew Chuck Jones drew Bugs Bunny, did not know this man did. Learn something new ever day.
Well..."The Wabbit Kicked the Bucket"...again
Rest in Peace Bob Givens

There goes another part of my childhood.
Sometimes I really hate getting old.
It’s not my own mortality that bothers me. It’s the idea that I will lose so many people I care about first or so many people who made the world I grew up in will also die.
As you age, after a certain point, your world diminishes.

"Disney's iconic animator" Not really - he was Warner Brother's animator in direct competition with Disney!
Always preferred the smart-alek WB stuff over the childish Disney stuff.

I remember remember reading years ago that the character of Bugs Bunny was fashioned from a scene from the 1934 movie It Happened One Night where Clark Gable is shown shown standing by the side of the highway munching on a carrot while trying to help Claudette Colbert hitchhike.

I thought Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck were Warner Brothers creations, not Disney.

This man’s contributions seem to be overstated in several of the articles I saw from Hollywood Reporter and elsewher. Iconic Disney work?
Yes he contributed to the development of Bugs Bunny as we know him today. Much of the character has been attributed to directors Tex Avery and Bob Clampett.
At 99 he had a good run, rest in peace.

I recall seeing the first Bugs Bunny in a documentary many years ago. That original Bugs was a real doofus as I recall. Nothing like the one with the attitude most of us knew throughout our youth.
I’m glad the Bugs with the attitude, and the Mel Blanc voice replaced that original Bugs.

From the days when cartoons had some quality and movement.
Modern day stuff seems to be cheapened with static figures with a twitching mouth and minimal motion. A lot cheaper than the old way of drawing every frame.
