Vanity - "Movie Going Hits 22-Year Low"....Drudge Report.

Posted on 12/24/2017 1:25:07 AM PST by JLAGRAYFOX

Lookie, Lookie, Lookie, The Hollywood film industry is headed for the trash bin. Just like the Democrat Party is in self-destruction mode...so is the Hollywood Cabal of political nutcases, crumbling.

Yes, Netflix, Streaming are hurting...but the downfall of the USA film industry is very much being helped to failure and poor performance in both revenue income and ticket sales by poor product and even worse poor choice of politics. Going through life as an avid Left-Wing, Progressive, Hate America, Democrat carries little positive political reward.

Even Rupert Murdoch was wise enough to dump his film activity onto Disney. Murdoch certainly knew and realized that Fox News Channel & Fox Business News, CXable TV channels, where the goose that keeps laying the golden eggs of huge profits, was the income producing gem of his empire.

Until the political aura of the "lost in space" Hollywood ego maniacs, grasp reality, the downward trend of the USA film industry will continue, unabated.

Nasty, decadent people make inconsequential films and then have an incestuous relationship with cinema chains that they pay to broadcast them at ear-damaging levels, because that makes them seem more important, daahling.

At the rate America's entertainment options are drying up, we all just might end up playing mumbleypeg in the backyard every day.

Which does sound kinda fun, actually.

Trump needs to bring back Jarts.
They probably did not injure more than a few dozen people, if we keep it in perspective.

Are jarts also known as lawn darts?

I had those and lived to tell the tale. Yes. Bring back lawn darts/jarts.

Movies and NFL are no longer viable options. We need jarts for the common man. Bread and circuses and jarts!!!

Well, my boys and I went to Star Wars last night and all agreed it was a waste of time and pitiful installment in such a great series. We’ve only been to half-a-dozen movies at most all year, which is a fraction of what I did when I was younger. Biggest complaint is that many, such as Star Wars, are really lousy movies. Besides, short of 3D IMAX, better to wait and watch at home on our own large screen.

The NFL is tanking and even this year Star Wars sucks.

Well maybe Jurassic World won’t let down. Other than that..yea hollyweird is just not worth it anymore.

Sad part is? In the old days would have gone to see a movie like Jurassic World over and over before it left theatres during the day when it was cheaper, as in like $2.50 now the day price is like $8 something.

Haven’t been to the movies in years, however I am planning to take my dad to see Darkest Hour on his 92nd birthday on the 28th.

The marvelous electron, sitting right here in front of our faces.

Our every whim and desire at our beck and call for pennies.

WHY would I want to get in the car/bus/subway and travel in the rain/snow/beating down sunshine to pay anywhere up to ten bucks or so, to sit and feed myself for about fifteen dollars to watch a movie ?

NETFLIX is better writing and acting in magnificent scenery and with a 50" smart TV ... on your couch, in the living room, with very little on for clothes snuggling with your honey ....

Just WAIT until people FINALLY grab on to the idea they don't need to send their kids to a brick and mortar school .... THEN you'll want a good stash o' popcorn !

I guess their marketing strategy of angering half of the movie going crowd isn’t exactly a blockbuster. The high cost to attend plus snacks doesn’t help either and then there is the quality or lack thereof product that is being offered.

You got it:

1. Actors taking political positions ruins the fantasy of entering the theater.
2. Enjoyment of the experience is ruined by the rationalization of paying a multiple of the cost of the tickets for snacks & refreshments I view as integral to the experience.
3. Recycling of plots/scripts is demonstrably lazy and invariably affects perception of the industry and rationalization for expending great expense for an experience historically rated worse almost every time I go to the movies.
4. As an amateur sound engineer and audiophile in 2CH and multi-channel, paying a premium for sound quality I rate as mediocre has a profound impact on my decision to go to the movies when I get better sound and video quality at home.
5. Imax began to draw me back into the theater until they attempted to deceive the viewing public with this fake Imax theater on a standard screen with new record-high ticket prices (Regal, in our area).
6. Switching from fresh-popped to reheated/bagged popcorn was bad enough, but the quality of that product is such that given my health research, I view what they serve in the theaters as toxic, unpalatable, high-priced junk compared to what I can make at home in my Great Northern stovetop popper.
7. Disrespectful audience:The number of times I’ve nearly come to blows due to pathetic human waste occupying seats in the same theater has a dramatic impact on my decision to stay home and save my $$.
8. New formats such as pizza/beer/wine and tables on which to eat are innovative options but do not return the magic of the experience I once adored as a child and young adult in the 80s
9. Quality of scripts: When I get to the point of expecting a moment in a movie at which I get so upset at the stupidity of the producers that I want to go demand my money back, it becomes an impediment to the decision to go in the first place.

I have far too many reasons NOT to go to the movies, wait for a $6 BlueRay and either enjoy the experience on my multichannel system w/ 7ft subwoofer and twin driver cube companion or shooting at the DVDs after a bad experience (a rarity since I research what I purchase). My 51” plasma has a far superior experience at home vs. the terrible optics of the current generation of analog theater projectors.

Personally why I go less:
1. Mindless plots filled with cgi and sex
2. Lame rehashing of original movies
3. Sick to death of the ultra-tough female leads.
4. Politics of the idiot actors
5. I’m getting older, and need more than mindless action to interest me

China owns Hollywood, so the movies are going to reflect all of the “negative” attributes and promote anything the weakens or makes this country seem more dysfunctional than it is.
Once you understand that the bulk of movies made today are not primarily geared for American consumption, but for the Chinese market, then the garbage product that they are producing makes sense.
Whatever drop off they see here will be more than made up overseas.

I love Jarts! But do you remember when they maker had to replace the metal spikes because “people were getting injured”? Ruined it for me. Bet those originals would be worth something today

It’s against the law to even sell the original lawn darts at a flea market. You can only buy the empty boxes on ebay. I feel so much safer now...
