Seemingly perfect for the current atmosphere of the #MeToo movement, a Japanese sociology and gender theory professor says that stories such as Snow White and Sleeping Beauty feature examples of sexual assault by the male protagonists.

The “professors” are twits.
Ah the magical kiss that the princess may or may not have wanted.
He’s got his Perv Lens on, I’m afraid.
I'm hard pressed to think of a more useless field of study.
OK - He might have a point here. Snagging a kiss from a sleeping woman IS pretty creepy. But I guess I’m just not offended enough to do much.
And Belle had Stockholm Syndrome.
I am surprised the Japanese allow such crap at their schools.
Odd that he didn’t mention the Rape of Nanking...
She is awoken by her twins sucking on her.
Walt Disney wrote that the princes were the keepers of virtue. (paragons of virtue)
The Good vs the Evil.
This imitation professor is just trying to criminalize male genitals.
Just because someone is a professor does not mean they have good sense. What they describe is not sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, or any other leftist talking point boogie man. A comic used to pass out “stupid” signs to idiots, rightly assuming it would be better if we knew who they were before engaging them. Apparently not effective enough, can we just slap them? People who say things as stupid as this author has need to be slapped whenever they say something stupid.
that is why in the revisionist version malificent’s kiss wakes the princess and not the prince.
I’ll pass that on to SO as the new alarm clock
Has Miss Piggy accused Kermit yet ???
They are technically right, as we have defined kissing as “assault”. Our problem is that we are not allowed to have a “scale” of offensives, it’s a simple yes/no thing.
There was a time that ONE kiss was never a prosecutable offense, if unwanted the punishment was rejection, and we only took additional action when men would kiss women without any context. Now if a 6-year-old boy kisses a girl on the cheek at school, they will be suspended and labeled a sex offender.
Still, these princes did go up to women they didn’t know who were sleeping, and kiss them. Of course, being a fictional story, the concept of judgement is stupid.
My favorite fictional example of changing norms is the movie “Rocky”. We all know about the wonderful love story that is wove through the entire Rocky series, how this lovable oaf of a man became a champion because one woman saw in him greatness.
But in fact, that relationship started with him taking her to his apartment, pinning her against the wall, and kissing her forcibly against he will while she said “no”.
Being a love story, once they started kissing, she was “into it”, thus setting back women’s safety for decades. :)
Then there was the Luke and Laura story line in General Hospital. Luke rapes Laura, clearly, but so many viewers loved that they were together that they ended up making the whole rape like a normal courtship occurance.
I thought the Prince was just performing mouth to mouth in order to save her life!
