Dr. Dean Lorich, a trauma surgeon, was found dead with a knife in his torso in his E. 96th St. apartment on Dec. 11, 2017.
An acclaimed trauma surgeon was found dead, with a knife in his chest, by his 11-year-old daughter Sunday in his Park Ave. apartment, police said.
Investigators were treating the death of Dr. Dean Lorich as an apparent suicide, sources said.
“He was under some personal stress,” a police source said.
The surgeon was home with his daughter, police said, adding there were no signs of forced entry at the tony Upper East Side apartment at Park Ave. and E. 96th St.
The girl alerted the building’s doorman, who called 911. Police said the call was regarding an assault.
Cops found the 54-year-old doctor’s body in the bathroom around 1 p.m. The knife was near his heart, a source said.

Lorich volunteered in Haiti for 2010 earthquake victims.
“It’s devastating news. Dean was a friend and a tremendous doctor,” said Dr. Soumi Eachempati, who traveled with Lorich to the devastated country. “The medical community will have an extremely large void without him.”

He's a doctor. He has access to pharmaceuticals that would do the job if he wanted to commit suicide.
There is no physician or surgeon who would commit

Yeah....suicide.
A doctor, especially of this caliber, would likely NOT do something like this at home, for his 11 YEAR OLD daughter to find him.
He would likely do this at the hospital, in a bathroom, with some sort of overdose.
Geesh.
Investigate the investigators.
Geez, he could have at least shot himself in the head twice and thrown the gun down the laundry chute.

In the letter posted on Wikileaks the doctor said they set up a hospital in Haiti but had NO security support from NYPD or FDNY.
Whe would those departments even be there?

Yes, the suicide claim is farcical. No skilled surgeon would do away with himself in this way.
As for no break-in, that means norhing, he could have invited someone in for a meeting (possibly someone contacting him under false pretext).
Stress, sure, but why stab yourself in the chest? Why wouldn’t he have OD’d on easily available drugs ?
