ALBANY, N.Y. -- The "Son of Sam" serial killer who terrorized New York City 40 years ago is in the hospital. New York state prison officials said Tuesday that 64-year-old David Berkowitz was transferred to a hospital from the upstate maximum-security prison where he is serving a life sentence.
Officials would not comment on why he was in the hospital, but the New York Post and the Times-Union of Albany reported that he was transferred to undergo heart surgery.

David Berkowitz did become a Born-again Christian, and was Baptized decades ago while in prison. People who love to write to serial killers say that when they write to Berkowitz he always sends them Bible tracts in return.

I read that in prison, his nickname is the “Son of Hope” because of his Christian testimony. Supposedly he’s turned (or will turn) down any chance of parole, choosing to stay in prison.
Only the Lord knows his heart but I hope his Christianity is real.
Manson died of colon cancer so he did suffer. I reserve further comment on him.

I would like to think that God can cure anybody.
In my opinion, some people don’t wish to be cured from what they perceive themselves to be. Their free will may stop or postpone the process of redemption for quite a while.
