Pharmacist told me that this year the vaccine I received covered 4 strains instead of the usual 2.
That’s alarming that the one you caught wasn’t included. What part of the country?

From what I understand it’s supposed to be a nasty year, flu-wise. Good to hear y’all are on the mend, tho~
Since the map image can be downloaded maybe someone more in-tune with posting images can actually post the map.
For what it's worth.
My pulmonologist recommended I have both flu and pneumonia vaccines, so I did. Before that, I went to Atlanta to help my brother who was having surgery and had a nasty case of something right after I got back to Michigan. I hadn’t had the flu in decades but I was so sick for two days I couldn’t get out of bed.
My brother had surgery in the Atlanta VA hospital. He got an infection and died. Very sad. I wonder if I got sick because of a bug I picked up while visiting him in the hospital. I spent a lot of time there.
I got my flu shot yesterday. I’ve been reading this fall that getting it too early leaves you less protected later in the flu season. I got a bad cold four weeks ago today. Took two full weeks to feel somewhat normal and another full 10 days to really get over it. Doc recommended no flu shot while I was sick with the cold
I read somewhere the vaccine this year was less than 10% effective.
Yahoo.
So happy my travel for next week was canceled and I’m not likely to need to do anything over the holidays.
Most likely way for me to get it is from the recirculating air on those darned planes.
Do people really trust the CDC to give us accurate unbiased info?
How were those flu cases diagnosed? Were all cases confirmed with a specific diagnostic test, or are these simply reports of clinical diagnoses and unconfirmed?
Even more likely, these numbers are probably “estimates “ from conjured up reports by ER administrators that are pressured into hyping up flu stats. You know, the same administrators that are forcing employees into getting forced vaccinations so as to maintain their Medicare reimbursement rates.
So far neither of us have had a sniffle but I see MS went into the "widespread" category since last week - will have to avoid crowds as best I can.
