Pharmacist told me that this year the vaccine I received covered 4 strains instead of the usual 2.
That’s alarming that the one you caught wasn’t included. What part of the country?

From what I understand it’s supposed to be a nasty year, flu-wise. Good to hear y’all are on the mend, tho~
My wife and I both noted this year how sore or arms were from the shot as compared to other years. So, I was thinking...heck yea this is good juice! But, sad to say not true.
Since the map image can be downloaded maybe someone more in-tune with posting images can actually post the map.
For what it's worth.
My pulmonologist recommended I have both flu and pneumonia vaccines, so I did. Before that, I went to Atlanta to help my brother who was having surgery and had a nasty case of something right after I got back to Michigan. I hadn’t had the flu in decades but I was so sick for two days I couldn’t get out of bed.
My brother had surgery in the Atlanta VA hospital. He got an infection and died. Very sad. I wonder if I got sick because of a bug I picked up while visiting him in the hospital. I spent a lot of time there.

I was curious, so for anyone else who is...
Scroll down for the info on vaccine effectiveness.
The HN32 influenza A virus dominant all over the northern hemisphere (and southern last season) is not a good match for its counterpart in the trivalent or quadravalent vaccine. But there is some protection afforded by the vaccine.
I got my flu shot yesterday. I’ve been reading this fall that getting it too early leaves you less protected later in the flu season. I got a bad cold four weeks ago today. Took two full weeks to feel somewhat normal and another full 10 days to really get over it. Doc recommended no flu shot while I was sick with the cold
Got my flu shot 30 hours ago. Only mild sore arm for 20 hours or so.
My wife visited a local hospital for a test and she swears that’s where this bug came from.
Sorry to hear about your brother.
I used to get sick a lot more when traveling extensively for business. Nothing like a big aluminum tube filled with people from all over the world to create a first-class bug cocktail!
Hubby had surgery and then 3 days in the hospital last year. There was a constant presence of hospital workers in all the waiting rooms wiping every hard surface down with antibacterial wipes. They were serious.
Then brother wound up having surgery and a hospital stay this summer. Different hospital. Not once did I see anyone wiping anything down.
I had that cold. It was nasty. Was only sick for a few days but the sinuses and cough lasted a full month. I still have some leftover cough.
The VA Hospital in Portland, OR, has issued a new policy, wherein no children are allowed, and any visitor and out patients must wear masks, issued at the door...
...
The hospital I visited last week, any employee who hadn’t had the flu shot yet was wearing a mask.
Thanks for the condolences. After he died I tried to get hold of my youngest brother to let him know. It took a long time to find out that HE died 2 years ago. I have two brothers left...I think. I know for sure that the county clerk has no record of their demise.
I've read that he flu shot this year is only 10% effective.
