This announcement is being made from a TV broadcast. This is from the National Football Selection Committee.
Alabama has been chosen as the 4th team to participate in the 2017 college football playoff.
More to follow as soon as it hits the press.

Clemson didn’t play well that day in general. They got less pressure on the Syracuse QB than they did against Auburn and Miami, or any other Clemson game I watched all or in part. It was the sort of poor team effort that can result in a loss for
most any team.
And then the Big 10 champ can be pissed at being the number 9 team
Can’t bring your A-Game every week, you’ll burn out. They just got caught taking Syracuse lightly on a day when Syracuse had it all going their way...it happens.

The OHS.
That's, "The OU sucks"
Funny, I will pull for Mayfield to do well. I went to High School with his Mom.
But, I still want OU to lose!
We’re already starting to see senior players refuse to play in the meaningless bowl games, because let’s face it, they stand to lose millions of dollars if they get hurt.
Naturally, they show their hate for Ohio State yet again.
BCS or “Playoff” system.
You're beginning to sound silly. So, the Syracuse QB completed 100% of his passes and every offensive play went for a TD? That would be a perfect game on offense.
All teams have had injuries and off games, and Clemson still has the worst loss of any of the top four teams.
Ok, this is it.
Play-In Game at a Neutral Site:
Best Power Five At-Large vs Best Non-Power Five Team, that way a non-Power Five conference team is guaranteed to have a shot.
Auburn vs. UCF in the Peach Bowl.
Is Frost coaching UCF in that game?
Are you kidding me? OSU went last year without winning their conference. So now, they get judged the same way Penn State was last year, and it is hate?
Auburn played FOUR games this year against #1 ranked teams: Clemson, Alabama, and Georgia twice. I don't recall any team ever having such a tough schedule.
I'm an ACC fan, and Clemson may be a very good team, but they sure play a weak schedule.
The Big Ten may be the toughest conference. So they beat each other up and never get invited to participate in this faux championship.
To my mind the Alabama-Auburn game was why the whole idea of the conference championships and college football championship are absurd.

Did you have the same disgust with the committee last year when OSU went instead of Penn State?
Gotta give the people what they want. Also, realistically, Division I is two-tiered, for all intents and purposes it's all about the Power 5. Let's end this charade and make the other conferences join the FCS, and make the good teams, like maybe UCF and Boise State, join the Power 5.
“a two-round playoff system isn’t deep enough”
That’s just common sense. But we’re talking about ESPN, a selection committee and the SEC.
So selection of teams continues to be like passage of a bill in Congress.
Conference champions playing to see who is the best makes sense.
But if the selection committee thought they could get away with it, it would be Clemson, Alabama, Auburn and Georgia; or better yet, the two teams they select.
