Kind of funky looking.
An electric shaver could do equally well. But I’ll keep my eyelashes anyhow. They help keep cat hair out of my eyes.

I suspect it began to treat trachoma...the inner eyelids scar and the eyelashes turn inward, scratching and scarring the cornea every time you blink.the result is blindness.
Shaving the inner lid and ingrown lashes would treat this problem st least temporarily.
