I suspect it began to treat trachoma...the inner eyelids scar and the eyelashes turn inward, scratching and scarring the cornea every time you blink.the result is blindness.

Shaving the inner lid and ingrown lashes would treat this problem st least temporarily.

I have scratchy eyes, but i just rub salt in them to take my mind off the itchiness
