Another "Eat It" for Man from Uncle. And if you're still hungry, Weird Al's "Lasagna" for Starsky and Hutch.
Absolutely appropriate! Good catch.
And you can watch the video from your room at the Gobbler Motel:
“Imagine the pitch to the investors:
“It’s going to be a futuristic, state-of-the-art motel with every modern convenience from water beds to 8-tracks. The entire dining area will be covered in deep-pile pink and purple carpet. But wait - here’s the best part. It will look like an abstract sculpture of a giant turkey. We’ll bill it as a romantic getaway - and call it The Gobbler!”

LOVE IT!
I used to put my conferences in places I wanted to visit. So, for Montreal, I put it at a Hyatt, thinking the food would be better than the Sheraton. But what was so difficult was the purple and orange carpets everywhere. It really looked a lot like this brochure.
I put one conference in New Orleans just so I could take the executive committee to dinner at Jonathan’s, an Art Deco restaurant with which I was in love. We’re having Thanksgiving in a restaurant. Wish it was that one, but long gone.
Yeah, I’d have loved to stay at The Gobbler myself. Lileks site is chock full of such entertaining oddities. He writes for the Minneapolis Star Trib, but he leans conservative.
Always like to support conservatives.
I’ve spent hours at Lilek’s site, it’s entertaining to roam thru. And I can appreciate your appreciation for unique architecture. Art Deco and mid-century modern are always fun finds when I run into them.
Perhaps the funniest 30 minutes ever put on TV. Certainly in the Top 10.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Very cool artwork. And the prices aren’t all that bad for a fancy eatin’ place, too.
If you enjoy old Universal horror films, there’s some fine examples of Art Deco used in “The Black Cat” (1933). Be nice if it were a color film.
And please never forget the Art Deco of Victor/Victoria!

Since I’ve never seen the film, it would be hard for me to forget it!
:D
James Garner as a mobster who falls for a girl who is pretending to be a boy because she needs the money and is performing as a boy pretending to be a girl. It’s all done in Paris Art Deco and I’ve never seen set decorating to match it. Julie Andrews is the girl and they’re both superb in the roles.
Cross-dressing story-lines tend to bore me, so I never saw it. Never watched “Bosom Buddies” or even the classic “Some Like It Hot”, though I am a film buff. Enjoy the the Monty Python drag skits and Klinger on MASH was fun.
I knew Julie Andrews was in Victor/Victoria, but not James Garner - both fine actors, I’ll have to give it a viewing.
Another interesting type of film sets is the era of German Expressionism - Nosferatu, Metropolis, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and so on.
The set for Svengali was pretty cool, too.
You don’t wanna get me started on either film or architecture.
:D
