Hunt saboteur ‘whipped’ by woman on horseback ‘charging’ at protesters

A hunt saboteur claims he was whipped 17 times with a riding crop by a woman on a horse while she was monitoring a hunt event. Footage shows the rider shouting ‘get off my horse’ as she lashed out at the masked man as she continues to shout ‘get back to the road’. Can you get a 26 to 30 railcard if you're already 30? It was filmed during a ride by the East Sussex and Romney Marsh Hunt Club on Saturday in Pevensey, East Sussex. The saboteurs claim she then used her horse to push them back while another masked man rushes in front of the horse, taking hold of the bridle. A second clip appears to show the same woman charging her horse at the saboteurs from behind.

Brighton Hunt Saboteurs said it attended the meeting to make sure no illegal hunting took place. The group insists it was the victim of an unprovoked attack and claim the huntswoman simply ‘lost the plot’.

Sussex Police and the East Sussex & Romney Marsh Hunt Club has been asked to comment. It comes after a hunt saboteur had to go to hospital with a cut to the face in Warwickshire last week. A spokesman for Sussex Police said: ‘A third party report of an assault has been made after a man was allegedly struck with a riding crop by a horse rider in Herstmonceux on Saturday (November 18).

‘The incident happened in a field off Church Road around 12.30pm. The victim was reported to have received a bruise and bump to the head, but did not require medical treatment. ‘The informant was not a witness to the incident, but police have now identified the alleged victim and an investigation is under way. ‘Police are aware of a video reportedly showing the incident being available on social media.’ A hunt spokeswoman said: ‘The East Sussex and Romney Marsh Hunt does not condone any form of violence even when faced with extreme provocation, personal harassment and other offences. ‘The hunt acts lawfully within the confines of the Hunting Act 2004 and takes every measure to ensure the law is adhered to.’

A hunt spokeswoman said: ‘The East Sussex and Romney Marsh Hunt does not condone any form of violence even when faced with extreme provocation, personal harassment and other offences. ‘The hunt acts lawfully within the confines of the Hunting Act 2004 and takes every measure to ensure the law is adhered to.’ A Countryside Alliance spokesman said: ‘As we have always known, the reality is that the anti-hunting movement is far more about the hatred of people who hunt than the love of animals. ‘Hunts comply with the Hunting Act 2004 by trail-hunting and using other legal forms of exempt hunting however they are still plagued by balaclava-clad animal-rights activists who intimidate and harass hunt supporters and landowners. ‘Throughout the hunting debate, those opposed to hunting from Ministerial level down, asserted that it was wholly an animal welfare measure and that they wanted hunts to continue hunting an artificial scent once the ban was in place yet it becomes more and more obvious that the primary aim of the anti-hunting movement is to get rid of people who hunt, rather than to improve animal welfare.’

Outdoors/Rural/wildlife/hunting/hiking/backpacking/National Parks/animals list please FR mail me to be on or off . And ping me is you see articles of interest.

Video at the source. The article doesn't make the point, but the "protestor" was grabbing the horse by the bridle. Not a horse person, but I'd consider that an attack on me and my horse, and react accordingly. The "protestor" should be arrested for assault.

Most states in the US have laws about harassing hunters. And wildlife. And domestic animals, like horses.

Looks like the hunt protester assaulted her by grabbing the horse’s bridle. Very dangerous for all concerned.

I think the charges should be against the protester.

Is this another version of those tiny boats that block the gigantic Japanese whaling ships from entering the whale’s domain? If so, the ‘saboteur’ got what was coming to him.
You lay down on the tracks, you’re going to get run over!

This moron endangered the life of the rider by pulling this stunt. Horses are easily startled if not trained for such and the hunt environment is fraught with hazards. If the horse had reared, the rider could very easily have been killed or permanently disabled.

You ride a horse and get to whip on liberals?

Where can I sign up for that?

Dress and act like a creepy rapist/stalker, and then the predictable happens.

it’s really all about them just plain hating the class of people who participate in these hunts. It’s no mystery that Lenin evolved in England.

But the rider kept excellent control of the horse through all of that.

You are correct, here in there are laws. In any case a masked person grabs my horses bridle they will at the very least get a firm smack down. Since it is the UK who knows.

but the "protestor" was grabbing the horse by the bridle.

And at that point, deserved everything he got and more. Cut down with a saber would have been fine with me.

I hope this story about the “hunting saboteur” lashing is true. I thought the vegan deserved more, but that’s just me.

The hunters should have long hence “double subcontracted” individuals to ‘interfere’ with the “protesters”.

This means that they “hire someone who hires someone”.

It is all carefully orchestrated. Once the protesters cross the line, the bully boys launch into them, quickly injuring them then leaving the area with some haste before the constabulary arrive.

Do that a few, random times, putting the protesters in hospital for a month or two, and a lot of this nonsense will go away.

Too bad she was not riding a trained Lipizzaner.

She could have had the horse kick him to death.
