President Donald Trump took to Twitter to criticize Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch Monday morning.

After photographs surfaced showing Lynch standing during the Mexican national anthem and sitting during the US national anthem at a game against the New England Patriots in Mexico City on Sunday, Trump called for his suspension.

"Marshawn Lynch of the NFL's Oakland Raiders stands for the Mexican Anthem and sits down to boos for our National Anthem. Great disrespect! Next time NFL should suspend him for remainder of season. Attendance and ratings way down," he tweeted.

The President and the NFL have butted heads over athletes' decisions to kneel during the national anthem at games, with Trump calling on the league to fire players who protest during the anthem earlier this year.

I am sure there are weasel words in the contract between boss and employee that allows for suspension or termination. If not the boss has piss poor lawyers representing him.

Actually I’d lay it at the feet of Tagliabue, he’s the one that was commish of the NFL when the NBA codified anthem behavior in the rulebook. He had the opportunity to fix it first, he was even a player friendly commish and could have gotten it through without anybody even getting upset. Tags should have called up Stern and asked why he was doing it, but he was too busy enjoying Pax Tagliabue and not bothering to do much of anything about player behavior. Which led to the mess Goodell inherited (he took over a league with players getting arrested every couple of days in the off season) and he’s just had bigger fish. Of course the whole things was pointless and basically dead. 10 players in week one, that would have been the peak, then somebody had to call them SOBs.

You obviously are unable to connect these acts with an issue that is critical to the future of America, so no insult.

As during the time of the Revolutionary War, not everyone understood and/or was on board, but enough understood how vital that war was for the colonies to be free.

Same here, I am optimistic that enough Americans do understand the issues and players in the battle that this war will be won without you even understanding what’s going on.

Fake issue? Trump’s actions are way over your head.

There are not. The best they’ve got is the personal conduct policy, but having let it go for a year and a half there’s no way they’ll be able to apply it now. Anthem behavior is not codified in the rulebook, not for any of the sports leagues except the NBA (who put it in place the same time Stern gave them a dress code for entering the arena, I never liked Stern but he sure knew which way the wind was going to blow). The NFL has to put up with it.

3 out of 1696 players not standing is a fake issue. I know exactly what Trump is doing, keeping YOU from paying attention to the fact that he can’t get anything through Congress, heck he can’t even get things TO Congress. It all appears to be over your head, but you’ll never admit it, too much koolaid.

The good news is we don’t everyone on board to win this battle—half of the fans and viewers will get the job done.

That looks doable.

One at a time, one at a time...

Marshawn Lynch could do a TV interview to explain his position, but it would require subtitles since he makes James Brown sound like Laurence Olivier.

Life is not always either/or.

Some folks _can_ walk and chew gum at the same time!

Results ARE either/ or. And the current results are “maybe next session” for everything on the agenda. But it’s cool, he can distract folks complaining about Marshawn Lynch.

The NFL has to put up with piss poor behavior that is alienating paying customer until contracts expire.

Looks like the owners need better lawyers. Simple solution, “Any and all behavior by employee that embarrasses, threatens, etc. the brand and or value of the Owner's asset will lead to the suspension and or termination of employee.” I'm not a lawyer. At this point I forward my demand to Legal Staff.

Remember it takes 2 sides to get stuff in the CBA. It’s not just the NFL’s lawyers, the PA’s lawyers get a say too. Again a year and a half ago they MIGHT have been able to say the personal conduct policy applied. But not now. And even then they would have had trouble since Colin sat the anthem for 2 games before anybody even noticed.

Ok, slightly off-topic, and I know Richard Sherman isn't Marshwan Lynch, but I love watching this (and I detest the Pats), knowing Mr Mexico probably felt the same way:

the players union is out of control and no one can bring back that runaway train. NFL’s next move is probably pay per view playoffs and teams all over the world to make up the revenue

You don’t agree with my opinion, so you insult my intelligence. I think my resume speaks for itself. Take care, old man. You don’t matter.

Actually they still have one of the weakest unions in sports. NFL’s next move is to accept the new normal. Ratings have leveled off, they’re still higher than the other sports, revenue will dip a little, but the league will be fine.

What in the heck are you trying to convey here? This page is for posting articles and then members post their opinions. I posted mine. He didn’t like my opinion so he basically called me stupid. Which is the #1 tactic of the left. So enjoy the company you’re in.

The league is going to double down with the PC madness.

Just watch.

They’ve been letting players have pet charities for a long time. They just started talking about it more to get the players to calm down. The party is actually over. 3 players.
