Nick Cave, the dark poet of rock, on Sunday accused the anti-Israel boycott movement of trying to bully musicians and said he was taking a principled stand by performing in the country.
The Australian artist, known for music that can be both melancholic and uplifting, is popular in Israel and is set to perform a pair of nearly sold-out shows.
At a news conference, Cave spoke about the pressure on artists by the international movement that seeks to ostracize Israel by lobbying corporations, performers and academic institutions to sever ties with the Jewish state. He said record producer Brian Eno had asked him three years ago to sign a boycott list. On a very intuitive level, I did not want to sign that list; there was something that stunk to me about that list, Cave said. [ ]
So at the end of the day, there are two reasons why I am here. One is that I love Israel and I love Israeli people and two is to make a principled stand against anyone who wants to censor and silence musicians, Cave said. So really, you could say in a way that the BDS made me play Israel.

Ping.
Good. Nick can specially dedicate his performance of The Weeping Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqhOVY58zIo to all the boycotters.
I mean, how DARE he play in Occupied Palestine?

Good for Nick Cave! Wonder if the Bad Seeds will perform, as well?
I love it when people refuse to bow (or cave!) to PC pressure.
Record producer Brian Eno had asked him three years ago to sign a boycott list.
This makes me happy! I Stand With BiBi and Nick Cave! :)
I’m a fan of Radiohead, and although Thom Yorke can be a bit of a prat at times, they played Israel, and basically told everyone opposing them playing there to f-— off.
Good for him! I can never listen to The Weeping Song too many times.
I also love Radiohead and was pleasantly surprised when they refused to boycott, considering the fact that they lean left.
Nick Cave is the most under appreciated talent of our era.
One is that I love Israel and I love Israeli people and two is to make a principled stand against anyone who wants to censor and silence musicians...Hadn't known that Eno was one of the BDS nitwits.
We need more people like Nick!
But Apollo and Thursday Afternoon are masterpieces IMO .
Thank you for that. Made my night. :)
Helluva show eh?
If you'd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

Important to do. This little liberal boycott hissy fit is obscene, ignorant, and hostile to US, ME, and Israeli interests.
