An Indian medical student has been crowned Miss World following a glamorous event in China today, making her country the joint-most successful nation in the pageant's history along with Venezuela.

Manushi Chhillar became India's sixth winner of the prestigious beauty show, following in the footsteps of successful Bollywood actresses Priyanka Chopra and Aishwarya Rai.

Chhillar's win means that India and Venezuela have both won the competition a record six times each over the course of its 67 year history.

The 20-year-old beauty winner is a trained Indian classical dancer who enjoys painting. The Miss World website also says that she hopes to open a chain of non-profit hospitals in rural areas.

I just saw movie called Lion, about an Indian boy lost and then adopted by Tasmanian couple.

The juxtaposition between the two cultures was jarring.

Specifically, the wealth gap.

It was an ok movie, No complaints.

Don’t show your ignorance for the world too see. Britain was no better to the Indian’s than the Nazi’s to the Jews. Winston Churchill was responsible for the forced starvation of 5 million Indians.

The India women were committing sati so that the Muslim men would not forcibly convert them to Islam. 90% of all Pakistani’s are descendants of Hindu women who were raped and converted to Islam.

Britain cut off hands of Indian’s who produced some of the finest garments in the world. The Greeks and Romans talk about the amount of gold they had to send to India because of their preference for Indian garments. Britain came in and killed or cut off hands of these artisans. They disallowed the production of anything in India. it all had to be sent to Liverpool to be manufactured and then sent back to India for sale. India had to buy English stuff. The railroads were built to harvest raw material from the Indian hinterland to be taken to ports and then sent to England. The miserable state of Scotland only exists as a part of England because they were promised plum posts in India. Now that those posts don’t exist, Scotland wants out of England.

I have a PhD in history. I know it far better than you ever will. You stupidly list evils Britain committed - as if it was unknown that Britain committed evil acts. Yet Britain still did wonders for India. It’s undeniable.
