I too love Avo’s. What is your favorite way to eat them?

Mine: Cut the 1/2s into about 1/2 inch grid taking care not to pierce the skin. Heavily salt and pepper the 1/2s. Pour cider or even plain vinegar into the former seed holes allowing the vinegar to spread throughout. Grab a spoon.

It makes a great lunch.

Two years ago, my wife has started an avocado tree from a pit. I told her not to expect too much from it, fruit-wise, but she persisted, and now that sucker is a full three feet tall and growing. We keep it indoors during the winter months. She just started six more using the water/toothpick method a few weeks ago, and has three with roots so far. She’s hell-bent on starting an avocado grove adjacent to our other fruit grove (peaches/apples). Me? I never saw the attraction. It’s just a bland, pedestrian fruit to me, tasteless, but avocado lovers like her are fanatics.

Avacado smoothies are amazing. My (then) six year old said, “You used to be a health freak, but now you’re letting us have junk food (avacado smoothies) for breakfast?”

Avacado, milk, real maple syrup, vanilla and a few ice cubes. Blend in blender.

Amazing !

Squirt ‘em with lime juice and sprinkle with brown sugar or agave syrup. Dessert.
