New York Times reports:
One idea now being discussed under this scenario, brought up by two different White House officials who spoke on condition of anonymity, would be for Gov. Kay Ivey of Alabama to immediately appoint Attorney General Jeff Sessions to what had been his seat when it becomes vacant again. Mr. Sessions remains highly popular among Alabama Republicans, but his relationship with President Trump has waned since he recused himself from the investigation of the role that Russia played in last years campaign.

Wouldn’t that be awesome? Have Sarah Sanders come out and announce that Trump is appointing Sessions is going to replace Moore, then an hour later, have Trump tweet out that, actually, he is appointing Moore to replace Sessions.
Then watch Twitter burn to the ground with Leftist impotent rage.
Dittoes.
I read up on her bio. She is probably a better choice than ol’ Roy.

I like this idea. Moore is an imbecile. An unfairly targeted imbecile. But his pathetic performance on Hannity and elsewhere was beyond painful. Can he say ANYTHING right, or at least without further self-harm?This gets Sessions the hell out of DOJ, where he is doing NOTHING, and puts the doofus Moore into retirement.
Yeah, if true the NY Slimes would be having apoplexy over the possibility of Trump appointing a REAL AG.

If I hadn’t already halfway posted this before reading that - I’d have stopped too.
But I went ahead with posting. Then immediately called for this thread to be moved to Chat. Then figured we could all get a good laugh out of this scenario.
If that would mean Trump’s new AG would not have to recuse himself from any “Russian” investigations and could walk back the Mueller appointment and select his own special prosecutor (I’d nominate Mark Levin), then it would not be a totally bad idea. Other than I do not want the throw Moore under the Dims mere allegation bus.
Looks to me like the New York Slimes is trying to run the election in Alabama...
I hope Judge Moore wins, just to show some of the ‘idiots’ in Our Country THEY DO NOT MATTER!!!
Make Moore the Attorney General.
Sessions was a good Senator, I actually like this plan. We need to get a pit bull in the AG’s office, let Sessions go back to the Senate where he is most useful.
“What if Gloria Allred and her ilk then are able to fabricate some sort of sexual harrassment charges against Sessions? How will that solve the RNCs problem?”
I like the idea of solving the AG problem.
It should not be a surprise they are considering it, considering the pickle that McConnell has put Moore in, and Trump’s routine blasts of Sessions on Twitter.
“Its astonishing.”
It’s been going on for decades.
It’s just that we are on to them now. We can SEE it for what it is.
I don’t know about this scenario, but I posted several days ago that if the situation with Moore deteriorates so much that there is a danger of the Dim winning, then the only write-in that could work would be to write in Jeff Sessions.
I heard that Mitch is talking about supporting a write-in campaign which would be a disaster since he has no clue what he is monkeying around with.
Re: Clinton Impeachment.
I went digging around and look at the GEM I found from a Koolaid Drinker, LOL!
Q: Why did Bill Clinton get impeached?
A: The very right-wing cult-evangelicals who had seized control of the Republican party during the 1980s with a goal of infiltrating every level of government from local to federal in order to stage a THEOCRATIC COUP from within our political system were afraid of Bill Clinton’s popularity, I firmly believe (Goldberg, 2006; Flynt, 2004), and they wanted to discredit him from the day he took office. This extremist (theocratic) movement has been very well funded by such people or fundamentalist groups as: Heritage Foundation (an ultra-conservative think tank in DC) and its founder Paul Weyrich, who also founded the so-called “Moral Majority”; foreigner fundamentalist and media tycoon Rupert Murdoch; Koch Family oil industrialists, Pat Robertson’s assorted enterprises including the “Christian Coalition”; etc...Hillary’s “vast right-wing conspiracy” which research now shows was real (Brock, 2004). Newt Gingrich started the ball of negative propaganda rolling using the Nieztsche model upon which Nazism is based and declared an all-out propaganda war on Democrats, especially Liberals and President Clinton, making use of the DC-based PR firm that both Bush Sr.’s and Bush Jr.’s administrations kept on retainer (Rossi, 2005). This war entailed somehow dehumanizing and thereby discrediting the Democratic party and its leader, President Clinton, in order to influence public opinion (exactly what Hitler did to the Jews in Germany). In a time of GOP-induced government shutdown and the death of both his mother and Hillary’s dad, Bill Clinton allowed his testosterone to get the better of him and succumbed briefly to the advances of a young woman (known to Oliver North, according to Linda Tripp’s female friend from NY), who had a “father-image” need to connect to men in power...and she chose President Clinton. He permitted felatio (not a crime), but then felt remorse and put an end to the connection-—but not before being approached by right-wing Linda Tripp, whose husband had served during the Iran-Contra scandal with Oliver North—the one who reportedly set up the initial meeting between Monica and President Clinton (according to the old gal from NY on Larry King Live—she spilled this trying to hold onto the fading limelight). Republicans trying desperately to discredit a very popular Democrat made way too much of the short-lived liaison, using FAUX News, Sunday morning talk shows, Letters to Editors, then-Senator D’Amato’s connections with the NY Times-—anything and everything to keep the non-story at a fever-pitch level and manipulating mainsteam media to begin covering the non-story of a sitting president’s piccadillos (Eisenhauer’s mistress was at his funeral alongside his wife, Kennedy was...well... rather promiscuous, and Bush Sr.’s long-time affair was ignored by everyone except Katie Couric). Having a fling, however brief, breaks NO laws, but the Clintons were being unfairly beaten up on another non-issue as well, “Whitewater” as the GOP dubbed it, with extremely right-wing Kenneth Starr appointed as a “Special Prosecutor” by the GOP-controlled Legislative branch-—try as they might, though, NO WRONGDOING ON THE PART OF THE CLINTONS WAS FOUND! So Starr decided to turn his attention to Monica Lewinski and to set a trap. If President Clinton had simply told them all to “Cut the CRAP!” as we all wanted, this would have gone no further and would have saved a whole bunch of wasted taxpayer dollars. Hypocrites like Senator Ensign (R-NV), Senator Craig (R-MN)-—of airport-arrest infamy for propositioning an undercover MALE police officer, and Governor Sanford (then a Congressman) were “morally outraged” and began calling for “impeachment” when no crime was even committed-—they just wanted to discredit a popular and effective Democratic president to score political points. When President Clinton was subpoenaed, he opted to show up (I honestly don’t know why until he was feeling guilty), and he then equivocated (or parsed) while under oath when asked questions about his personal life that he should never had had to answer. Larry Flynt (2004), trying to help expose the sheer hypocrisy of the Republicans, put out a ONE MILLION DOLLAR reward for each person would could come forward with irrefutable PROOF of the Republicans’ sexual misconduct-—and this is a book well worth reading because some of them had to actually RESIGN over their own shenanigans. The parsing was deemed “perjurious” or “lying under oath” even though he didn’t actually out and out lie and even if he did, what guy doesn’t lie about sexual matters? The impeachment was, of course, ridiculous and was overturned, but my guess is the REPUBs were trying to “get even” for the Nixon and Watergate period and the Clintons were just convenient scapegoats at the time.
This scenario assumes a lot of things have to happen.
1. It assumes that Roy Moore wins the election. If he does not, there is no vacancy for this switch to happen.
2. It assumes that if Moore wins, that the Senate would refuse to seat him. I can't see that happening smoothly. It will leave a lot of bad blood flowing into the 2018 mid-term elections, where conservatives have vowed a primary bloodbath of incumbents.
3. It assumes that Trump will have a smooth go of confirming a replacement Attorney General. Democrats will simply up their game of holding show hearings to obstruct the nominee into the 2018 mid-terms as a Democrat campaign wedge to motivate Democrat voters to retake the Senate.
4. Sessions would have to rerun again in 2018 to fill out the remainder of the term.
This looks to me to be nothing but trouble for the next two years. Republicans are better off just letting it ride.
-PJ
The truth is - McConnell, McCain and the rest of the GOPtards would sooner have democrat Doug Jones in as Senator sooner then Judge Moore.
And they are doing their deal level best to see that happen.
If he was cavorting with an underage girl, I would have a big problem with it.
This needs to shake out before I come down on it firmly.
So far, I’m not sold that Moore did it. If she was underage, I would be hard pressed to to support him.
I want to be reasoned with both sides. I lean toward Moore now, because nothing has been proven. Nothing.
