Christopher Plummer to Replace Kevin Spacey in 'All The Money In The World

In an unprecedented move, Ridley Scott has re-cast Kevin Spacey in his Getty thriller All the Money in the World just weeks before the film's release.

Christopher Plummer will now play J. Paul Getty in the story about the infamous 1973 kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III.

The movie, which was pulled as the closing night screening of AFI Fest, is scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 22 via Sony's Tristar. As of now, the release date remains unchanged despite the re-shoots.

Insiders tell The Hollywood Reporter that Scott made the decision unilaterally and only notified Sony of his decision late Wednesday afternoon. Plummer was actually the first choice for the role, but top studio executives wanted a bigger name.

Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams star in the feature as J. Paul Getty's lawyer and daughter, but there is no word yet on wether or not they will be brought back for re-shoots.

As the sexual harassment and assault allegations continue to mount against Spacey, it would have been impossible to distance the movie's marketing campaign from the scandal engulfing the actor, even if he himself didn't do press.

All the Money in the World is the latest project to distance itself from Spacey. Netflix announced that the sixth season of House of Cards had suspended production and, on Friday, sources told THR that the production is actively reworking the final season of the drama, so that Spacey will be written out. Additionally, the streamer abandoned their plans for the Spacey-led Gore Vidal project.

I still love it.
He was so handsome and debonair. Amazing he still is working!

Strange topic to make a movie about - the kidnapping of J Paul Getty's grandson?

I was actually thinking the same thing..

Star Trek fans remember him more recently in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) as Klingon General Chang:

Sadly, he outlived the pretty actress that played his eldest daughter (Liesl, played by Charmian Carr). I know she had been in declining health in recent years. She was the first of “the children” to pass away.

The Shakespeare-quoting Klingon General. He was actually supposed to sport a typical Klingon hairpiece for the role, but saw how he looked without it and insisted they keep him bald, as he was far more striking.

With all this accusatory rhetoric against Spacey and his uncomfortable confessions, I could not help but think of his role as Jim Williams in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The writhing cesspool of sexual perversion in Hollywood is masked by the glamour and sophistication of illusion.

Can’t see why Amanda Plummer can’t play Getty’s daughter, then. Real-life Father-Daughter team.

Christopher Plummer must be pretty old!

Anyone else want to take bets on Kevin’s suicide date? I say he doesn’t live out 2017.

That’s a rather odd bet to make. I hope he doesn’t, I pray he repents and recovers. His family history is like a horror story.

I too dislike that movie.

Too many of the songs get caught up in a never ending cycle, and repeat, repeat through my head until I go nuts, and have to put on CDs of Johnny Cash, or the likes to rid my head of them.

Good to be sincerely hopeful for repentance but we need to keep in mind there are thousands of people every decade that grow up in monstrous households, or that live through terrible times that don’t become felonious themselves.

His career is over. He was at the top of Hollywood with all his movies and his hit tv show. He is now hated and thought of as a child molester. That’s a long way to fall. He might just decide to end it all. I don’t wish it but I am extremely disappointed in him even though he was abused as a kid. It’s not mandatory to go on and molest other kids.

Of course it’s not ‘mandatory’, again, an odd choice of words.
You may not have wished it but you’re willing to bet on it. I find that rather sickening.

Of course! I’m only speaking to the notion of taking bets on his demise.
He’s a sick man and I grieve for his victims but I sure as heck won’t discuss him committing suicide on an open forum!

A pretty rapid fall, that’s for sure. Couple weeks, right?

Still not as fast as Michael Richards, who’s career was wiped out in a single news cycle. Then again, Kramer didn’t have quite as far to fall.

I wonder what Harveywood’s pervs are going to do? They’re not going to change.

Maybe they’ll just lie low until the heat’s off.

I knew Kevin as a kid. I’m sad. More sad than anything else. I’m not sure how someone famous who predates on kids and then gets found out goes on.

Interesting how you find ME sickening when I don’t stick my hand down kids pants etc.

Oh please, I stated that your interest in making a bet was sickening. Don’t twist words like a child.

What will they do if Julie Andrews says Plummer groped her on the set of The Sound of Music?
