The Anti-Defamation League says Larry Davids Saturday Night Live monologue in which the Curb Your Enthusiasm creator pondered his dating options in a concentration camp was offensive, insensitive & unfunny all at same time.
The ADLs stance, tweeted by the organizations CEO Jonathan Greenblatt, was in line with plenty of Twitterers who started slamming the bit before the shows cast made its goodnights.
He managed to be offensive, insensitive & unfunny all at the same time Quite a feat, wrote Greenblatt.
Jonathan Greenblatt ✔ @JGreenblattADL Watched #LarryDavid #SNL monologue this AM. He managed to be offensive, insensitive & unfunny all at same time. Quite a feat. 9:03 AM - Nov 5, 2017
Davids monologue watch it above started out with the comics standard self-deprecation, joking about being a total loser during his single New York days. Then he pivoted to riskier territory Hollywoods recent flood of sexual harassment allegations.
I couldnt help but notice a very disturbing pattern emerging, which is that many of the predators are Jews, said David, whose Curb Your Enthusiasm once included a plot about mistaking Survivor cast members with camp survivors, said. I dont like it when Jews are in the news for notorious reasons.
I know I consistently strive to be a good Jewish representative, David said after a crude joke about Harvey Weinstein. When people see me, I want them to say, Oh, there goes a fine Jew.
Then he dove in head first.
Ive always been obsessed with women and often wondered, if Id grown up in Poland when Hitler came to power, and was sent to a concentration camp, would I still be checking out women in the camp? I think I would.
Hey Shlomo, look at the one by barracks 8, David continued. Oh my God, is she gorgeous?! Id like to go up and say something to her.
Of course, the problem is there are no good opening lines in a concentration camp: Hows it going? They treating you OK? You know, if we ever get out of here, Id like to take you out for some latkes.
Woo hoo! That SNL. They come up with some funny sh*t, don't they?
Hey, SNL, why don't you do a skit about Kevin Spacey anally penetrating Richard Dreyfuss's 14 year old son while Richard looks on?
OMgosh, that would be side-splitting!
Bunch of sickos.
No Sht. I watched SNL out of curiosity last night.
Molly Cyrus just finished it went to commercial.
Next up the news segment. STUPID Trump Jokes. Inane. R E T A R T E D.
The commedians weren’t even into it. They spent their careers burning up local theaters for the big lights.
They get there and are forced to play jo jo the dogfaced boy. Abandon your talent and read this BS on live air.
It was sick and stupid.
Hope New York City is proud of this crap. Are you NYC?
Bring back Al Franken to save this show!!!!!
best
election
evah
I tuned in because I know David plays Bernie Sanders when he’s on SNL. I figure the time was ripe for an opening skit about Hillary stealing the primary from him. But no, it was the usual Trump bashing.
What a brilliant skit on SNL’s part! You guys are maybe missing the punch line here. The obvious intent of the skit was to show what an insensitive, callous moron Larry David actually is and the writers succeeded on every level.
The Trump-bashing opening skit and this monologue were equally unfunny, so at least they’re consistent.
FB has been accused of "enabling vicious Jewish hatred" after telling users an image depicting human remains on a shovel below the tag line "How to pick up Jewish chicks" did not breach its standards.
Just days after back flipping on its decision to censor an iconic Vietnam War photo of a naked girl escaping a napalm bombing, the social media giant is again under fire over its handling of posts reported as offensive.
In reply to complaints about the shovel image - which was widely shared, "liked" 21,000 times, and received more than 37,000 comments - FB said: "We reviewed the post you reported for displaying hate speech and found it doesn't violate our community standards."
Under its community standards policy, FB says it "removes hate speech" that attacks people based on their race, ethnicity, national origin and religious affiliation.
"We allow humour, satire or social commentary related to these topics, and we believe that when people use their authentic identity, they are more responsible when they share this kind of commentary," the policy says.
The image was posted to a page attributed to a Queensland man late last month and shared 2280 times. It has now been removed but tens of thousands of comments, many of which are anti-Semitic, were still visible in the thread as late as Thursday.
A FB spokesman said the image was removed for breaching community standards and that the company was still investigating.
But 24 hours after being asked, the spokesman could still not say when the photo was taken down. Facebook could also not explain why only the photo was initially removed and not the entire thread - which is standard when a post is pulled.
Unfortunately, there were just as many who thought it was hilarious.
Offensive and unfunny describes SNL and every other leftwing “comedian” on tv.
I guess David figured all the Holocaust survivors were dead, so those kind of jokes would be OK.
Nice going, idiot.
Did you actually watch the clip?
Pretty funny stuff.
Larry David is hilarious in an uncomfortable way.
In an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, he begged a woman to let him use her bathroom, which happened to have a large image of Jesus. A drop of his urine splashed onto the eye and dripped down like a tear. He got out of there as the woman proclaimed it a miracle. Neither the ADL or anyone else cared if this was offensive. It was still being shown on the TV Land reruns not too long ago.
Je suis Larry David

...
I agree. He’s one of the funniest people on the planet right now. I can’t stand his politics, though. I’ll watch the clip later.
That is absolutely despicable. I can’t believe that wasn’t removed.
Larry David represents an ignorant, assimilated Baby Boomer generation of estranged (from their own faith) Jews who have a complex about self effacement in order to disassociate themselves from THOSE (kinds) of Jews who were pious, honest and unfortunately victims in the biggest way possible to antisemitism and hatred.
Larry David is a successful Hollywood Jew who let success and fame go to his head making him show all others that he is not so much a proud Jew but a rather pathetic apologetic Woody Allen type whose main goal is to show non-Jews that he really isn't part of that “primitive”, classic Jew tribe.
Disassociation, black humor and self-hate usually characterize these low level Jews. He does this while the Anti-Defamation League knee-jerk reacts to anything and everything that might trample civil liberties, insult or in anyway hurt their lifestyles.
