I recently subscribed to Sling TV. This is to report my experience so far.
They have all sorts of channels and are adding new ones all the time. Lots of news channels and movie channels.
Watch out for Pluto TV. Yes free. Zillions of commercials.
I’m such an addict that I dropped cable over four years ago and don’t have a working TV set.
We have Sling Blue, no ESPN, but it grinds me that we still pay for the cr@p on CNN.
I’m just about ready to chuck it all.
METV is OTA on channel 21.2 in Dallas. If you can pick up Over the Air in your area, you should probably check for availability.
I’ll chime in here. No TV, no cable. Internet, and all that implies :) via Straight Talk hotspot which is actually a cell phone modem. I’m happy.
Wish: that Straight Talk would introduce an unlimited data plan.
If you have a Roku advice, I recommend you download and subscribe to One America News. Fox News is CNN by comparison. It will restore your faith in broadcast media.
We cut the cord as of Nov 1. We are using Playstation Vue. The only thing I miss from Direct TV is the guide, but it wasn’t worth $100 extra for a guide.
It might be available via over-the-air. It is available via antenna in our city.
Playstation Vue has food network and HGTV and Fox news.
Thanks for posting.
Can I ask about your internet provider? Do you see an increase in bandwidth fees?
Fox news is on Playstation Vue.
We got a Roku also, so lots of choices.
PSV makes the wife happy except for lack of the hallmark channels. Caveats: your internet speed needs to be robust and consistent plus your cost savings over traditional cable bundles is not as great as you think factoring in digital antenna for the locals. You cut one cable but add others. As mentioned upthread, the only true cable cutting is no TV.
Well, thankfully we have you here to show us the error or our ways (and revel in you superiority).
Do some soul searching and figure out what type of person would click on a link titled "A Cord cutter's review of Sling TV" not to be informed, not to provide relevant input on alternative programming options, but to wag a finger in the faces of people who do not prescribe to the notion that folks like you, who don't like TV, are far superior to folks like everyone else, that does like TV.
How do you know if a person is a Vegan, a Cross-Fitter, or a TV prohibitionist?
They'll tell you.

Don't even get me STARTED on SLINGTV. We had it a week. I wouldn't pay a dime for it.

Enough right here to make you give it up before you start!!

Agreed; but look for it under “Kloud TV.”
We considered Sling TV after booting cable; but the one option (Orange) has ESPN which defeats a good part of the point of the cord-cutting, and the other (Blue) isn’t compelling now that racing is ramping down (Indy is done, IMSA is done, and F1’s titles are resolved ... and the last two races were on broadcast TV).
Another very good one on YT is called “Betty’s Kitchen”.
