CHULA VISTA, Calif. A sweet act of kindness was caught on camera, and a Chula Vista mother is hoping to find out who the boy is that left Halloween candy at her doorstep for others to take.
Kim Manalo and her family left a bowl of candy out while she took her kids trick or treating on Halloween night. After coming home to an empty candy bowl, Kim immediately thought the worst.
"Once we got around the block the bowl was empty. I wasn't too surprised but I was hoping it wasn't one kid or an adult," said Manalo.
In the video, a group of kids is seen approaching the door and notice the bowl empty. When the kids walked away, one kid stays behind and takes candy out of his own bag to put in the empty bowl for other trick or treaters to take.

Just kidding. I’d get this kid a car for xmas.
Kids like that one are all around us each and every day. The trouble is that they are not the ones making news, trouble, worries and committing a large and long list of crimes.
They ARE truly the future and thank you for posting your
perfectly accurate comment.
Our bowl was down to about 8 pieces when a group of 4 kids came up. I gave three of them their treat, then the last girl, about 12 or 13, said “Oh, you’re almost out. I don’t need one.”
That was amazing and so sweet.
I got a rock.
I remember when I was young a guy gave us small bags of mashed potatoes...We responded for the next 2 months by spreading bags of popcorn on his lawn.
Years ago, wife and I decided to go to a movie on 10/31. We completely filled a bowl, put a note next to it, and set it up on the enclosed porch entryway.
By the time we got into the car, and before we could even close the car door, the bowl was empty.

SMH—some kids just don’t have any boundaries.
I actually had better luck with that technique. For several years, when I lived in a quiet suburb of Pittsburgh, I’d fill my plastic scary pumpkin with candy and post a note on the door inviting the kids to take a few pieces each, admonishing them not to “be greedy.”
Every year, there would be a little candy left over at the end of the evening. Once I was actually in the house while this was going on, and chuckled when I heard a parent warn his child “Don’t be greedy.”
I get hit with lots of kids that are driven in by their parents from elsewhere, really miffs some of the neighbors. I handle it by getting the cheapest candy in bulk that I can find which I dole out to everyone. However, I also keep a hidden tray of full size candy bars out of sight which I only give out to the kids that are polite and say thank you.
A few years ago on a slow Halloween night two kids show up for candy right before 8 pm. They looked familiar so my wife asked them. The older one said no. The younger one said “Jeremy don’t lie. Yes maam we have been here earlier.” My wife motioned the younger one over and tipped the substantially still full bowl onto his sack. Liar got nothing. Then we shut off the outside lights and laughed about the lesson taught.
(We spend quite a bit on Halloween and get the best candies.)
That’s a great kid right there. I love catching kids (and adults) doing kind things when they don’t think anyone is watching.
I think I was in the last part of the sweet spot for Halloween when I was a kid (late 60’s-early 70s), and had a great time going trick or treating. It’s changed quite a bit now but I’ve always been disappointed because we rarely have trick or treaters at our door. Even the few kids on our street go to the neighborhood just up the street for their candy. That neighborhood is like Halloween Town with decorations but I think I’d get extra-grumpy if I had to accommodate 700-800 children knocking on my door for candy.

Halloween night I left my candy bowl out on the porch while I went in to grab a slice of pizza. Heard a teen yelling, “stop, stop, bowl” I zoomed to the front door, and we both got the bowl at the same time, me bellowing, “Don’t you try to take that bowl.”
He instantly feigned innocence. Heard him tell his pals when he got back in the vehicle, “Did you see that old lady? Man, she knew what I was going after.”
I really wanna whack some of these kids up aside the head when they behave badly.
I almost put out a sign on my door this year. “You want candy? Get a job!”
Maybe we could just use a spray bottle, like with a wayward pet. “{SPRITZ! SPRITZ!} No, no!”

Kids like that are avoiding the damage that their Halloween candy would do them.
the year my parents told me I was to old to go Tricker Treating me and a friend set up a bowl of candy in front of my friends house. we put a sign that said happy Halloween please take just one. unknown to anyone approaching the bowl there was a hole in both table and bowl. we had taken a rubber cleaning glove and rubber cemented it to the bowl. if some one fallowed the direction on the sign and only took one piece of candy nothing happened but if they tried to take a hand full one of us hidden under the table would grab them with the glove and pull them into the candy bowl. a lot of greedy kids were scared that night.
