In a blast from the past, there are long lines already forming in cities around the world for tomorrows iPhone X launch.
After the iPhone 8s muted rollout in late September, the lines of people willing to wait overnight suggest massive demand for the iPhone X despite its US$1,000-plus price tag.
In Singapore, there are hundreds waiting for the iPhone X outside Apples freshly-opened store.

By late afternoon, there were already overwhelming numbers, reports Channel News Asia. You need breathing space. This will take a while. There is no point in pushing, Apple store staffers were heard saying.
Video
Man, the queue in front of Apple Store is insane. Does Apple even have this many iPhone X to go around?

Idiots. I wonder how many of them are anti- capitalist socialist Democrats?LOL! I wonder how many posters on this thread bitching about how people choose to spend their hard-earned money consider themselves free-market conservatives?

As long as my cell phone does the basic things I need, I have seen any need to upgrade which to me is this eras way of keeping up with the Joneses. Some people like nice things.

The old iPhone goes to a relative. Wife and I bought iPhone 7s earlier this year and sent our old iPhone 5s to her relatives in Ukraine. They were so happy! Hardly cost them anything to replace the batteries with new ones that held a longer charge. In a couple of years, we'll do the same with the ones we have now.

Stupid Apple-Sheeple.
Apple is like Microsoft was - 100 times better at marketing prowess than technological prowess. Do you use any Apple products? I thought not.
Were you aware that the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X have the fastest mobile phone processors on the market by at least 50% faster than the next closest and they are designed by Apple. . . and an Apple designed Neural Processor, which can do 600 billion decisions per second, is included in each iPhone X.
That is pretty high technological prowess, don't you think?

I can kind of see this kind of behavior with the first model. But what is so new and improved now? People surf the web, listen to music, watch videos, play games, take pictures, send texts, and occasionally talk to people. What new revolutionary feature justifies this? The only real improvement would be to make a keypad that works What doesn't work about the current virtual keyboard/keypad? I've never had a problem with Apple's design in that area.
For your question about what is new and different, I will take you seriously:
- Larger and better screen than the iPhone 8 plus in a smaller, more compact iPhone.
- First OLED screen on any phone that actually shows the correct photographic color gamut with very high contrast ratio.
- Fastest data processor of any cellular phone by better than 50% faster than any Android competitor.
- Facial ID recognition that actually works and which cannot be spoof by using a photograph, 3D image, video, or sculpture and requires user intent to unlock the device, unlike the competition. . . which improves security from 1 in 50,000 to 1 in 1 million over TouchID fingerprint ID unlocking.
- Realtime duplication of user's facial motion on animated images for messaging and videos synched to voice implemented with Neural Engine Processor.
- On screen realtime Augmented Reality with accurate motion in X,Y, and Z axes as the device is moved.
- Accurate altitude data within 3 feet due to inclusion of new altimeter accurate barometer sensor.
- 4K video recording at 24 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps (no Android phone offers 4K at 60 fps).
- Slo‑mo video for 1080p at 120 fps or 240 fps.
- Time‑lapse video with stabilization.
- Cinematic video stabilization (1080p and 720p).
- Take 8MP still photos while recording 4K video.
- Quad-LED True Tone flash with Slow Sync on Rear Camera.
- Auto image stabilization on Front Camera.
- Portrait Mode Bokeh on front facing camera with accurate facial distance determination due to 3D distancing by infrared by Neural Engine processor.

Apple A11 Bionic......Can anyone give a rough benchmark on this CPU? Meaning how does it stack up against a 7th generation i3 or 15 laptop or desktop CPU? In multicore it's faster than the Intel 3.5GHz i5 7267U processor in the 2017 13 inch Apple MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM, in single core, it's pretty close to equivalent:

I can say that because here is the conventional bench mark for that i5 with a 5350 score. My best CPU scores 4000 or so.

FYI...I strolled past the Verizon/AT&T kiosk at Costco yesterday and jokingly asked if the salesman had any X phones.
He did and I bought one, no lines, he was knowledgeable, and he was very user friendly.

FYI...I strolled past the Verizon/AT&T kiosk at Costco yesterday and jokingly asked if the salesman had any X phones.
He did and I bought one, no lines, he was knowledgeable, and he was very user friendly. Good to know. I pre-ordered mine from AT&T, with my attempts to logon starting at 12 midnight the first day you could, but AT&T's system kept refusing to recognize my password after waiting in a queue and then forcing me back to the start of the queue to try again after each failed password attempt! I finally got on but my NEXT program suddenly was not available for the device I was going to trade in when it had been available the day before, and chat had a SIX hour wait! But no return to the previous screen to choose another device. Using the back button in the browser returned me to the start of the queue to wait some more and again a refusal to recognize my password! ARRGGHHH! I finally got on with the correct device being available with NEXT! at almost 2AM and completed my order.
Now their pre-order is still "being processed" with a delivery date between November 2nd and November 10th." Obviously November 2nd and 3rd is shot. . . and so is being shipped on November 4th. Heheheheh. It keeps saying "watch for an email about your iPhone X being shipped."

If I had 1000 to spare Id buy it for the bokeh alone!
We all want one over here and are considering leasing them but I cant justify the cost.

er... 5 phones for the price of 1 iPhone..... Yeah, you can buy 5 low end Android phones with old tech for $69.79 each. . . because that's $349 (the price of a brand new iPhone SE from Apple divided by 5.
That price does not get you much of an Android phone. Certainly not anything close to a cutting edge phone. Of course, the makers of those cheap Android phones who have been participating in a race to the bottom of the barrel are not making any money. None, Zip. Selling your product below cost then hoping to make up your losses by selling ever larger quantities is not a good business model.
Nice try, Minnesota.

That Intel Core i5-7267U Processor's raw benchmarks are, according to the most authoritative source are 3853 for single core and 7749 for multicore.
