After the dreary Dark World, Marvels hairiest hero makes a thunderous comeback in the bright and very breezy Thor: Ragnarok.
ndie director Taika Waititi may have seemed an odd choice for the Asgardians third solo movie and the 17th instalment in Marvels Cinematic Universe but it turns out the man behind Kiwi comedy Hunt For The Wilderpeople (my favourite film of 2016), is the comic book giants most inspired signing.
If youre making a film about a flaxen-haired, hammer-wielding god from outer space theres no point keeping a straight face.
And Waititis love of the ridiculous makes this the funniest Marvel movie yet.

I haven’t noticed anything like that in these movies, but it is true...and they were very patient in gradually taking over media - both news and entertainment, academia, etc. to achieve this end...unfortunately this was not countered and the corruption is nearly complete and will be very difficult to undo, as they can use the platforms they have overtaken to attack those who try to resist or reform it.
We’ll probably see it too - w/o a healthy dose of comedy the Avengers movies would not be worth seeing. Glad they are keeping it up and ‘laughing at themselves” while they are at it.
Vikings did raid North Africa.
They’re from another dimension, and completely different species. The Norse god aren’t actually Nordic, that just happens to be the part of the world they visited a lot back in the day.
Oh please. That makes no sense.
The should hire this director for some of the DC films. Batman and Superman desperately need something not dark and gloomy.
The director of Justice League was the same hack who made Man of Steel and Batman vs. Superman. Then, sadly, his adopted daughter committed suicide, so he dropped out and the film was taken over by Joss Weedon. So, you got your wish, though who knows if he had enough to do with it to turn it around. I, personally, wont be watching to find out.
It’s a freaking comic book. And that’s been the explanation since they made Thor a character in the comics in the 1960s.
We are a conservative couple, aged 74 and 66. We love Marvel Universe, all the way back to ‘Agents of Shield’. DC, not so much, but then, there’s the Batman properties, Gotham, etc. We watch on Netflix and prefer the series to to the movies, but sometimes we binge.
Marvel is master of characterization, IMO. Humor and pathos, plus romance, sympathetic villains and flawed heroes make for essential story-telling and we watch as a diversion. The choreography of the fight scenes is well done, again, IMO.
Aside: we’re trying to sell our property and last week, a dead ringer for Madam Gao looked at our place. I am not exaggerating. We were awed.
Not gonna watch it. The movie is probably infested with leftoids.
Boycott Hollywood until they’re panhandling in the streets.
>>I liked that gatekeeper.<<
Me too.
He doesn’t exactly fit Norse mythology, though.
Have fun donating to the Democrat party when you buy your ticket.
Take it up with Marvel. :-)
Everything is political because the libtards MADE IT POLITICAL. Being all gentlemanly like is what got us to the point we are in now. NEVER AGAIN. They have opened fire and continue this culture war. The first step to winning a war is to realize that you are in one. If this is how we return fire then so be it. Not one cent for this film or any other. Hollywood funds this culture war, despises us deplorables, brainwashes the gullible all with our money. We fund our own demise. No longer. Let all their efforts be met with failure and bankruptcy. There is no film I want to see that is better than that.
People have been calling for boycotts of Hollywood for decades. It's never made the slightest difference, and likely never will.
You don’t have to boycott Hollywood, you, just you, have to make the decision not to support them in any way. That’s all. This year is flop after flop. That is all that matters.
“Flop” after “flop” after “flop” and yet they’re still on pace to hit 11 billion dollar in domestic theatrical revenue. It doesn’t matter nearly as much as you think. The fact is, most people just don’t care, they don’t pay attention to actors outside of their movies, don’t know what their politics are, and don’t care. They see the movies or not based on the ad campaign and position in an existing property that they do or do not follow.
Not going to happen. I plan on enjoying films that appeal to me.

Every year has flops. Every year has hits. This one is no different.

$7.8 billion, with two months to go and a couple of huge hits (Thor and Star Wars VIII) yet to be released.
Yawn.
So sick of comic book movies.
5 of the top 10 films this year are superhero movies. Never a better time to be a nerd. ;-)
