Since word is he spent his time on “video poker”, then ... no.
Any player vs computer gambling cannot “win big” long-term. They’re programmed to notify the house of a “hot player” (regardless of reason); the house will promptly distract or eject the player.
If he were a talented poker player or card counter, he could win consistently against other players and basically split his winnings with the house. So far no word supporting that theory.
If you wanted to extend the conspiracy theory you could ask if an FBI mole warned Paddock that an investigation was going to lead to the arrest of Paddock’s brother on child-porn, and possible sex-trafficking charges, and Paddock knew where else that could lead.
Why not?, it’s as plausible as the original.

If we knew who is was we would have a pretty good idea what his motive was.
But we don’t know anything about him other than he supposedly made 5 million from gambling .

Much easier explanation: AR and AK rifles in designed-in full auto mode are not designed to be discharged like fire hoses. The American military teaches its troops, even while firing belt fed machine guns, to fire in three shot bursts. Fire hose style firing, like that done by the subhuman melts gun barrels. Being as well informed as he appeared to be, he had to know he’d be melting his weapons’ barrels with sustained full auto fire; therefore he equipped himself with as many as possible so he could keep on firing as long as possible.
