Camille Paglia: Public Schools Creating Students Who ‘Know Nothing’
Breitbart ^ | 10/23/2017 | Dr. Susan Berry

Posted on 10/25/2017 11:04:11 AM PDT by simpson96

Outspoken feminist Camille Paglia says the current generation of hyper-sensitive, safety-seeking college students was gradually created by the downward spiral of public education that has left them ignorant of history and geography and focused, instead, on viewing America as an evil nation.

(snip) Paglia said:

What has happened is these young people now getting to college have no sense of history of any kind. No sense of history. No world geography. No sense of the violence and the barbarities of history. So, they think that the whole world has always been like this, a kind of nice, comfortable world where you can go to the store and get orange juice and milk, and you can turn on the water and the hot water comes out. They have no sense whatever of destruction, of the great civilizations that rose and fell, and so on, and how arrogant people get when they’re in a comfortable civilization, etc. So they now are being taught to look around them to see defects in America – which is the freest country in the history of the world – and to feel that somehow America is the source of all evil in the universe, and it’s because they’ve never been exposed to the actual evil of the history of humanity. They know nothing!

Paglia, a professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, slammed the trend of public schools beginning the teaching of “identity politics,” such as that found in “sexual harassment sensitivity training” and “diversity training,” all the while true education is absent.

“It’s really started at the level of public school education,” she noted. “I’ve been teaching now for 46 years as a classroom teacher, and I have felt the slow devolution of the quality of public school education in the classroom.”

I'm reminded of a conversation I overheard in which the topic of the atomic bombing of Japan came up. A young woman, college educated, reacted in horror. She'd never heard that it had happened.

Her stunned reaction: "Why would we drop a bomb on Japan? They're our friends!"

Wrong, Camille. They know how to perform anal sex in the Jay Middle School in Jay, OK.

The problem with public education is that it is teaching all the wrong things and failing to teach children how to be successful, self-sustaining adults. And it is costing more than ever to miseducate children.

You are correct Ms. Paglia. But Ms. Paglia, feminism is just as destructive because it tends to lump all men as evil creatures. Hopefully you will come to recognize the error of your ways with regard to that, as well.

It’s been going on for a long time.
Just look at how many people think Kenyans from Indonesian and Cubans born in Canada are natural born citizens.

NBC = Born here of citizen parents.

If you are familiar with Paglia's writings you will know that she rejects that brand of victim feminism. She doesn't lump all men together as evil. On the contrary, she has repeatedly expressed admiration and respect for men.

Kind of how I feel toward Alan Dershowitz. When I was in law school and as a young prosecutor, I despised the guy. But now I respect him for his intellectual consistency, honesty and integrity. He recognizes sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Maybe he’s mellowed. I know I have.

I’d enjoy sitting down with him for a glass of wine and an evening discussing Constitutional law. Not sure I could do that with Camille, though.

I heard her in an interview once where she talked of a relative, (Could have been Uncle, Father) that had old military gear in a box left over from time in service during WW2. She said as a child she would pull the items out of the box and feel the power of the items and it affected her. Very interesting comments (providing I didn’t mis-remember them)

Then calling her a feminist is wrong, because that is what “feminist do. She is instead an advocate for women. Quite different in mindset. I too am an advocate for women, who are just as capable as men. Lately many of them are better than men, because the men are no longer allowed to be men.

I’m pretty sure Camille went to public school. Her family were Catholics, though.

Back in the late 80’s, early 90’s, the focus of academia was self esteem. It wasn’t what you knew, it was what you felt about the answer. They particularly focused on women and inner city minorities.

Now we have a generation of people, who were told, for thier entire lives, they were smart, but are clinically, functional morons.

These generation has infiltrafed our entire society. They are now in positions of leadership, poisoning the minds of our current youth.

It was by design. The complete demoralization of a society takes about 3 generations.

We were very close. Thank God for President Trump.

This book was written in 1991. Over 25 years ago.

Today, we are witnessing the result of this atrocity.

“The Rewriting of America’s History”

“Catherine Millard undertakes to describe how the history of America has been reinterpreted and rewritten by secularist and humanist historians who have systematically excluded much that relates to faith in God from their accounts.”

Hi, Cov. There are endless speeches, seminars and interviews with Paglia on You Tube. My recent favorite was a lecture at a library about one of her favorite movies, The Philadelphia Story. Interestingly, for all her talk about politics and culture, she’s really a brilliant art historian. (Which is what she teaches.)
