Camille Paglia: Public Schools Creating Students Who ‘Know Nothing’
Breitbart ^ | 10/23/2017 | Dr. Susan Berry

Posted on 10/25/2017 11:04:11 AM PDT by simpson96

Outspoken feminist Camille Paglia says the current generation of hyper-sensitive, safety-seeking college students was gradually created by the downward spiral of public education that has left them ignorant of history and geography and focused, instead, on viewing America as an evil nation.

(snip) Paglia said:

What has happened is these young people now getting to college have no sense of history of any kind. No sense of history. No world geography. No sense of the violence and the barbarities of history. So, they think that the whole world has always been like this, a kind of nice, comfortable world where you can go to the store and get orange juice and milk, and you can turn on the water and the hot water comes out. They have no sense whatever of destruction, of the great civilizations that rose and fell, and so on, and how arrogant people get when they’re in a comfortable civilization, etc. So they now are being taught to look around them to see defects in America – which is the freest country in the history of the world – and to feel that somehow America is the source of all evil in the universe, and it’s because they’ve never been exposed to the actual evil of the history of humanity. They know nothing!

Paglia, a professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, slammed the trend of public schools beginning the teaching of “identity politics,” such as that found in “sexual harassment sensitivity training” and “diversity training,” all the while true education is absent.

“It’s really started at the level of public school education,” she noted. “I’ve been teaching now for 46 years as a classroom teacher, and I have felt the slow devolution of the quality of public school education in the classroom.”

Those nuns left a very deep impression on Camille.

Not only do they know nothing, but they have very loud opinions about everything.

I doubt I would want to hang out with Camille a whole lot...but she is right.

Then they go off to college and think they’re the best things since sliced bread. Sadly, they’re as smart as a loaf of bread.

There’s much to admire about Camille Paglia despite who and what she is. It can’t be easy speaking the blunt truth to leftists as a leftist in an exclusively leftist environment and surviving to tell the tale as she has for decades. I became familiar with her in the 90’s after overhearing some very leftwing lesbians spewing hatred for her, and figured she couldn’t be half bad if they hated her. I was right. Very lucid thinker and entertaining writer.

This is because Camille shares a common sense of values that we as Americans all share. She may life a live outside the mainstream, but she does recognize that the mainstream does not want to put her to death for her lifestyle. I havve always enjoyed reading her essays because she does provide a viewpoint that is not full of hate toward my beliefs.

She can be difficult to listen to as a speaker, her mind runs ahead of her mouth and she speaks in fits and starts, but once you get the hang of following her train of thought and how it all tumbles out it’s well worth it, go.

The following 3/2016 video: Duke Pesta, Common Core-Six Years Later is a bit dated but a very good explanation and time line related to Common Core education. Some screen caps below illustrate the timeline and depth of depravity our elected officials continue to foist upon society (along the same lines as Pelosi's 'you have to pass the law in order to see what's in it')...

the defining theme:

"Common" in Common Core = collectivism, origins from Horace Mann/John Dewey

Keep the mystery of science alive - support public education.

Having an engineering background, I see the upside to this...job security.

However I am not happy that I’ll eventually have more competition for my late in life dream jobs - WalMart greeter and pizza delivery guy.

“Camille Paglia: Public Schools Creating Students Who ‘Know Nothing’”

And who said the public schools weren’t succeeding?

The public schools are fulfilling their objectives perfectly.

The public schools are getting an ‘A’ in their objectives.

I think the current generation will be the downfall(or close) of America because they have been taught nothing. I’ve never seen a group of kids less prepared for college and adult life as those produced by public education during the past several years. It’s much worse than most people know.

Despite her shortcomings she’s at heart a patriot who loves her country and western civilization. She goes out on a limb quite frequently to defend both.

Once again, Camille bucks her liberal cohorts and has the nerve to tell the truth. When it comes to lib group-think, she remains on the outside, observes, and makes logical conclusions.

We know they don’t know much, but we can keep quiet and the people will be contented.

Don't have to buy a ticket. Here's the link to her conversation with Jordan Peterson.

Camille Paglia and Jordan Peterson conversation

1hr:40min spell binding conversation and views by both. Well worth the time. Beats the hell out of an NFL game.

Yep. She tells it like it is more than some RINOs. I admire her. She is from the Christopher Hitchens school of liberalism, too intellectually honest to regurgitate leftist group-think and talking points.
