Will a cat assume that position naturally or the owner placed him there so as to make a YouTube video?

Mine sits like that all the time. He’ll prop himself in the corner of the couch or against a wall. Good grooming position.

Our Maine Coon Cat likes Animal Planet. Animals know what's going on and they have favorites and preferences.
My lovely wife is temporarily disabled by a rigid knee brace. The Coon Cat shows great concern for her attempts to get around. He stands "guard duty" while she sleeps. It's amazing to watch. His understanding and loyalty is our wonder, bless him.

Our cat does not "watch" TV. Most of the time she ignores it. However, sometimes, if we are watching something with animals in a nature setting, she will jump up on the TV stand and try to reach into the picture.
I took these one night when I was watching a Naxos Musical Journey DVD that showed some pigeons on a lawn in Austria:
We've had this cat for over ten years and that was the first time I've ever seen her do that. Cute.

Sitting like that would not be comfortable for most cats. Probably the cat was posed like that, and the expression on its face is annoyance at the guy who posed it that way for some YouTube video.

About 20 years ago I had cats, and when I’d pop the “Milo And Otis” tape into the player, two of the cats would run to the TV when they heard the music. They’d watch the whole thing.
In 2002, our Siamese would run to the TV if he heard GW Bush’s voice, and sit there and watch him. I have a photo of that somewhere.
