Our Maine Coon Cat likes Animal Planet. Animals know what's going on and they have favorites and preferences.

My lovely wife is temporarily disabled by a rigid knee brace. The Coon Cat shows great concern for her attempts to get around. He stands "guard duty" while she sleeps. It's amazing to watch. His understanding and loyalty is our wonder, bless him.

Maine Coons are the best.
I had one named Andy who was my best bud for years until someone STOLE him.

Some breeds do seem to have a sympathy strain. I had a Siamese who always sat by my side when I was upset. Now I have a dopey domestic longhair who doesn’t care about anyone but herself and the kibbles!

My Maine Coon likes to lay on my stomach while I watch Netflix movies. After a while, she moves to lay so that she has full length body contact. She never leaves that position for the entire movie. She also frequently brings in one of her furry mousie toys, accompanied by a weird gutteral meow, and drops it at the foot of the bed, sort of as an "admission ticket" to the movie, before the movie starts. Maine Coons are very much like little doggies.
