Gary wasn't used to being around people. He didn't like being touched, or even looked at. If anyone came too close, he'd lash out.
He was perfect for the job. Because at the "Working Cats" program, no manners is no problem.
Philadelphia's Animal Care and Control Team established the program about four years ago to place unadoptable cats - the biters and the skittish, the swatters and the ones who won't use a litter box - into jobs as mousers at barns or stables.
The shelter recently expanded the program to move cats that were less-than-ideal pets into urban jobs at places like factories and warehouses as a sort of green pest control.

Roxy and Shags play tag sometimes. Roxy doesn't appear to be very happy when it's Shags' turn to be "it".

Ghost is a very cool cat! I get so tickled when Peaches is all growling and hissing, and Ghost simply walks softly up to him, boops his nose, and sits down to wait. LOL!
Shags looks like he enjoys being “it”! :) He has such gorgeous markings! And I love black and whites.

Shags definitely enjoys being “it”. He plays tags with all the outside cats fairly regularly but with Roxy most often. She’s a small girlie but she can handle Shags quite well when it’s her turn to be “it”. LOL
He’s purty indeed. And though he always looks like he’ll bite your hand off, he’s a very sweet feller. No telling what he did to make his previous owner toss him out like trash but he doesn’t have to worry about it happening again. The cats that show up here are with us til death do us part. That’s why we have so many. LOL
I hope you get another pic of Tigermaus soon. I just love to admire that handsome young feller.
I’m beginning to wonder if Pixie’s girlies are ever going to grow up. It’s like she had a litter of midgets they’re so small for their age.

I wouldn’t exactly call Pixie’s girlie sweeties. They’re small but they’re hellraisers. LOL! And they don’t take any guff off the other cats either. The live up to “dynamite comes in small packages”. :-)
I’ll try to get that video. I haven’t caught him doing it in a while. Peaches just hates it. LOL!
Peaches’ reaction is what I want to see. LOL! He acts all big and bad and it must deflate his ego to get a boop on the nose for his efforts.

At my local TOPS store there is a beautiful little black boy someone left in the parking lot.
There are recuse groups trying to catch him Thank God but have not yet. I go to that store almost daily. I look for him. You know what I mean. We are down to 5 at home. My Oreo just turned 18!!! 18 and he runs the house. Its pretty funny. The 120 pound doberman will not pass him in the hallway.
The plight of pets is ever on my mind. Yep, God made them to reproduce, this is what they do.
