A huge hog weighing in at a reported 416-pounds was shot in East Texas.
Mr. Joe Clowers shared pics of his food plot nightmare that ended late Saturday night, Gregg County Game Warden posted to Facebook.
Texas Parks and Wildlife estimates that there are more than 1.5 million feral hogs in Texas.
There seem to be very few inhibiting factors to curtail this population growth, according to TPWD.gov.
Clowers told Chron.com the hog preyed on the fawns in the area and Clowers added that he always stayed armed when visiting his deer feeders in case the hog in question charged him.

Mn, is that photo distorted? Otherwise that’s got to be uncomfortable having to walk on those fat things.
Will guard dogs keep them at bay?
If that boar hasn't been fighting or screwing with other pigs in the last hour, and you kill him dead as a stone with the first shot, then he might be OK to eat. Otherwise, generally pass on the big boars and go for the shoats under 200 lbs. To me, wild pork tastes better than store-bought.
Lost cause pretty much in my experience. Pigs will kill a dog. Most of the time they will run from dogs but if caught and cornered in large sounders they will hurt dogs and eat em.
I wonder if her pilot in Phoenix had to take her poundage into account, given the hot weather there.
I fry deer sausage with potatoes and onions.
Yummy
Yes, problem solved, create a new FDA Class of Meat, feral meat
In Texas, when can these be hunted and how many can be killed?
It would seem something feral should be handled like its vermin.
Hogs eat Bambi?
I remember going to Charles Schultz’s farm in Santa Rosa to look at a horse. They told us the Mexicans shot the dangerous wild boars and ate them. Read that farm was burned in the fire ....it was a beautiful place.
Pulled pork, ribs, bacon, ham hocks, and rocky mountain oysters coming right up.
In Texas, they can be hunted all day; every day.
In Texas it's open season on wild hogs year round, and there's no bag limit.
Those poor shoes...
Anytime, anywhere, any amount.
Just make sure you have permission on the land. That’s the tricky part.
It actually looks like someone with congestive heart failure!
You just put out my retinas... Thanks.
