The New England Patriots may have left Super Bowl LI with the Lombardi Trophy, but someone else is going home with presidential socks.
Former Republican President George H.W. Bush is giving a pair of socks he wore to the Super Bowl to a Roman Catholic Diocese in Maine so they can be auctioned off. Bush wore the red, white and blue socks while performing the ceremonial coin toss with his wife Barbara Bush at Super Bowl LI in February.

George H.W. Bush fought and nearly died for his nation in WWII and I honor him for that, but quite honestly I can’t think of a single man in the history of the world who was so great that I’d give a penny for his socks.

Danged if I know who would want them, but best wishes for a good fundraiser. I met Mr. Bush when he was Vice President. I shook his hand and squealed (I was 18), “Ooooh! Nice to meet you, Mr. Vice President!”
