Colin Kaepernicks collusion case against NFL owners will argue that his continued unemployment is at least partially the fault of President Donald Trump, CBS Sports Jason La Canfora reports.
Kaepernick intends to argue that Trump, on Twitter and in public speeches, influenced NFL owners against signing Kaepernick, according to the report.
Trump no doubt has the ear of NFL owners. The day before the Kentucky rally, Patriots owner Robert Kraft was on Air Force One with Trump. Trump also tweeted last month that he had spoken with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones about the anthem issuehe reportedly called Jones four times in a day to talk about the protests.
Many other owners donated to Trumps inaugural committee. Proving his views on Kaepernick and peaceful protests of injustice contributed to Kaepernicks absence from the league would require details about his conversations with ownership, though.
The breaking point for Kaepernick was when he was passed over by the Titans and Raiders two weeks ago, according to La Canfora. Tennessee signed Brandon Weeden and the Raiders held steady with E.J. Manuel.

He apparently did not learn what the word collusion means in school.
He does, doesn’t he. Very bad. She lost his well paying job for him. He is blind.
So he’s tanking his lawsuit? The guy just ain’t bright.
Of course there are frivolous grievances, and this is a perfect example. As I’ve noted at other times, you are absolutely entitled to your point of view. But so are others entitled to theirs, and mine is unshakable that whatever it’s called and through whatever means it’s being brought, this is a frivolous claim.
I agree. Thanks for the note of agreement.
In this discussion I’m using “frivolous” as a legal term, not a subjective one. My point is that this claim cannot be dismissed as a frivolous one in the NFL’s grievance arbitration process the way a lawsuit in civil court can be. The NFL and a former player who is now a professional malcontent can waste all the time and money they want in their own internal proceedings.
so kaepernick looked into a crystal ball and it told him that Donald Trump was going to be elected and that’s why he started this?
The only reason Kaepernick is not getting hired is that he comes with way too much baggage. He has NFL level skills but his presence would disrupt any team
The only reason CK hasn’t been hired is that he doesn’t want to play pro football anymore. When the Ravens were considering signing him during training camp they tried to arrange a meeting with him because they weren’t convinced he really had any interest in playing. That meeting never took place because CK’s own girlfriend sabotaged it.
Naw... Potus was reacting to NFL fans who were not pleased with taking a knee. DJT didnt chime in until later as he tsunami of discontent gathered speed.
Probably both reasons. Kaepernick is wishy washy about playing and the owners don’t want to hire this negative influence.
The 49ers would've cut Colin Kaepernick if he hadn't opted out of his contract
GM John Lynch confirmed as much this week
