Texas county worker arrested for $1.2 million fajitas theft

Gilberto Escaramilla was fired in August and arrested after authorities obtained a search warrant and found packages of the Tex-Mex food in his refrigerator. Investigators subsequently checked vendor invoices and determined he would intercept county-funded food deliveries and deliver them to his own customers. The scheme imploded when he missed work one day in August for a medical appointment and a delivery driver showed up with 800 pounds of fajitas, but officials said the juvenile department didn't serve fajitas.

Thanks again. Your photo is showing up now. It didn’t earlier. All I saw before was a tiny white box.

I have eaten in some Italian eateries where the food really sucked, because the cook didn’t know what they were doing.

Here I would 100% agree with you.

You probably wouldn't know a quality dish if it bit you on the a**. You would love it here in New York City with all the ethnic garbage restaurants and muslim (Halal) food carts. I'm sure you think the disgusting crap below similarly looks delicious.

I enjoy all kinds of food. But if you consider fajitas ethnic that’s pretty farfetched. I guess I’ll give you a pass for being ignorant and insulting since you’re from New York City.

I'm sure I would find "fajitas" more appealing if I were stranded in some third world latin country some place...

Come to Texas, we'll make more.

What the heck is a “fajita” anyway? Sounds awful.

A fajita is something that eaten in certain Third World cesspools that help you develop tiny worms that burrow through brain tissue.

BTW Fajitas are “Tex-Mex”, as in from Texas, as in from the USA.

You stated you never heard of or tasted the dish, yet, you denounce it as third rate. That is bigoted ignorance, plain and simple.

I've traveled to at least one part of the world where,it's said, that people are known to eat insects.I've never tasted such a thing but I know that it's twelfth rate.

Yup,I'm gonna spend the day in Manhattan tomorrow.Although you just about trip over those "halal" carts in Midtown I always resist...and have no trouble doing so.God only knows what they put in that chit.

Just heard of Shake Shake the other day, however, and am planning to visit one.I wonder if they're as good as is claimed.I'll know tomorrow.

Funny how so many “Mexican” dishes originated in Texas.

Ack, can’t recall the details but recently some Hispanics were trying to shut down a food truck (?) because the gringos working in it were appropriating their cultural foods.

Well, not all New Yorkers are ignorant and insulting - just the insular, snobbish ones.

“But if you consider fajitas ethnic that’s pretty farfetched.”

Considering fajitas ethnic is not farfetched——it makes just as much sense as considering pizza or pad thai ethnic.

They are ethnic foods.

In Florida, Chili’s Tex-Mex isn’t too bad,
if you substitute salsa and chips
for black-beans (yuck) and rice (meh).

Funny thing is, you’ve been eating insect parts all your life.

“The FDA’s action level for peanut butter is 30 or more insect fragments or one or more rodent hairs per 100 grams.”

Actually fajitas originated in Texas. It’s Tex-Mex food.
