Gilberto Escaramilla was fired in August and arrested after authorities obtained a search warrant and found packages of the Tex-Mex food in his refrigerator. Investigators subsequently checked vendor invoices and determined he would intercept county-funded food deliveries and deliver them to his own customers. The scheme imploded when he missed work one day in August for a medical appointment and a delivery driver showed up with 800 pounds of fajitas, but officials said the juvenile department didn't serve fajitas.

Thanks. Your photo didn't come through, but I managed to track it down elsewhere.

Looks even worse than I imagined it would.

However, it did bring to mind a couple of Italian dishes I'm well familiar with:

Stromboli

Remember that episode on Family Guy where he says, “I’m gunna have me some of those fajitas”?

He pronounced the “j” as you would in English.
Too funny.

We had a young office worker (yes, she was blonde) who told us her favorite restaurant we Chipotle (she pronounced it "Chipottles" and said she really liked their "ja-LA-pen-oes" - like Peter Griffin would pronounce it.

Hmm. Thanks.

Ha, this made me hungry so pulled some fajita meat (purchased legally) out of the freezer. Fajitas tonight, yum!

Looks even worse than I imagined it would.

So, let's see...You hate grilled steak, bell peppers and onions.

Oh, and those ingredients wrapped in flat bread. I assume you also hate the little sliced tomatoes and lettuce on the side.

Gotcha.

Oh, and I forgot to add he pronounced the i with the long i sound. Kinda sounded like vagina.

I’m still chuckling to myself.

The ignorance exhibited on this board is astounding at times.

I see no reason to explore when I have access to truly great (Italian and American) dishes. Most Latin foods I have tried, at best, were ok. But in comparison to my favs are not even in the same universe. I simply stick with what I know and love. I'm sure I would find "fajitas" more appealing if I were stranded in some third world latin country some place, so long as the local pharmacies carried plenty of Pepto Bismol.

Since the move I have been yearning for authentic TEXMEX for the past 2 years. Around here they use bottom round for fajitas, horrible.

The pieces of "steak" in that pic resembles small dog crap. And the "flat bread" looks awful when compared to the type of bread or dough used in Italian foods, such as calzones and strombolis. I'm sorry if you have lived such a deprived life when it comes to good eating.

It isn't about liking or disliking fajitas. I don't really care for them either. But I know what one is.

Have you ever heard of a taco or should someone post a pic?

Since when is having good taste in something considered “ignorant”? If anyone is “ignorant” it is you for not recognizing what separates great stuff from, at best, mediocre.

Bigoted ignorance is nothing to be proud of . You stated you never heard of or tasted the dish, yet, you denounce it as third rate. That is bigoted ignorance, plain and simple.

Tacos and burritos I have tried. Would never again though. I actually did figure a "fajita" was similar to them.

Very nice. So you defend yourself by insulting others. It's a shame that you live such a narrow life and are afraid to explore different cuisines. I find it laughable that you demean anything that doesn't fit your cramped scope of reality.

But I guess rudeness and superciliousness is your defense mechanism, so that's fine.

I based my remarks on my experience with similar latin foods such as tacos and burritos. (just typing the words makes me want to run to the toilet)

I didn't initiate any of the insults. I responded to insults to me. I think the first asked what rock I was living under for not knowing what a "fajita" was.

I tell ya, I have eaten food from all over the planet, most all of it I liked, a few dishes I have not, but, I would never denounce something that I have never experienced. Oh and BTW, don’t make your judgement on something you got from Taco Bell or some 3rd rate deli. I have eaten in some Italian eateries where the food really sucked, because the cook didn’t know what they were doing. You really should get out more and quit living under a rock.
