(INTELLIHUB) — Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department appeared to be visibly shaken when told reporters Friday that he wasn’t attempting to be “subversive” in previous statements he made surrounding details of the October 1 massacre at the Route 91 Music Festival where 58 people lost their lives.
In the ‘no questions’ conference, which members of the independent media were not allowed to attend, the sheriff said that he’s “well aware” of the timeline dispute released by MGM Management on Thursday which claims that Stephen Paddock fired his weapon into the crowd just seconds after Mandalay Bay security guard Jesus Campos was struck by a bullet in the 32nd-floor hallway outside the shooter’s end suite.

I think this is the most likely scenario. It explains both the secrecy, the coverup, and the Sheriff's stress.
The real questions are if this was essentially a just as planned
operation, or an operation that went sideways
. The latter is bad enough, and would tarnish a government agency that likely cannot afford to take the PR-hit, but the former is more interesting
in that it shows the government willing to either cause or allow Citizens to die.
Also, if the latter be true, the question becomes Why?

for the War on Terror. Third, it could have been to introduce new security technologies and expand agencies like the TSA. Fourth, it could even have been something as stupid/petty as pushing the whole NFL/kneeling thing out of the news because it was hurting them/investors/donors financially. Fifth, it could have been to muddy the waters
and create diversion politically; remember that there's a lot of interesting possibilities in the works (like Anwan brothers).

If someone was firing from a window 300 yards away at me or mine, I’d be loading that room full of 7.62’s like they were on sale.
Moreover, he was firing to 1300 feet, but the distance from intersections to mobilize at was in the 150-200 yard range. Even I can hit a guy leaning out of a window at 150 yards.
Lombardo is an elected Sheriff. He answers to the voters of Clark County, if the election were held next week he would be out of a job.
That's like asking if kicking a hammer and some nails would result in a nail landing perfectly aligned on the head.

The fact that the stories keep changing about the stairwell, and what Campos and Schuck were doing related to it is very significant, in my opinion.
IF there were others involved, my guess is that they used that stairwell.
Would have made it real exciting for guests in the hotel.

A few days ago, I said he was instructed what to say by the feds and a FReeper rudely said he wasn’t. I still stand by he’s just a tool. People are more likely to believe their local guy over the FBI. Sadly, he may be voted out of office (do they vote for sheriff there?) if the story continues to flip flop.
One missed shot might kill a hotel guest. Not a good idea.

Another anomaly is the picture of his legs. The gun bipod is over his foot and not toppled over.

Hmmm. If I were in the crowd with my family and somehow armed with a good rifle, I might, but probably not from 1300 feet, 30 stories up.
If I were in a closer position with my family and a hunting rifle, and he wasn't shooting at us, I'd probably seek cover.
If I were a cop in a position close enough to shoot at him (no threat to my family), I don't know. I have no idea what their training is in such situations.
BTW, did you read somewhere he was leaning out the window? I hadn't heard that.
Would not the first thing you would do is kick the weapon FARTHER away? Measure the head. Measure the distance from the head to the weapon. A head is about 9 inches. The distance from his head to the weapon is less than two feet.

It’s obvious it didn’t go as planned and in all likelihood the concert wasn’t the target. If, as they say, the security guard heard drilling, then the shooter wasn’t ready for anything. He was still in the prep stage. The concert was on the last song so people would have been clearing out within minutes.
