It is the site of a huge battle that took place 3,300 years ago in Germany. A relatively recent discovery, little is known about what actually happened there but it still changes our perception of the Bronze Age.

Dead People??
The title is a little misleading, it should have said Europe’s most ancient KNOWN battlefield.
“We imagined the Bronze Age as a relatively peaceful period, something of a ‘Golden Age.’. . . It was fascinating to realize that this peaceful image clearly wasn’t true, . . .”
This socialistic jerk is trying to apply his ‘modern’ ideology to an ancient society, and when the two don’t line up with each other; he acts surprised.
Humans have been killing each other for as long as we have existed.
Cain vs Abel are proof.
It takes a while, but it looks like they usually find weapons.
the scientist in this article would reject such evidence out of hand because it’s ‘RELIGION’ not ‘objective’ fact.
not that there is anything ‘objective’ about this jerk. LOL
or at least parts of weapons. and the wounds inflicted by said weapons on the bones.
ancient French swords.
Only dropped once.
Battlefields of old are usually bereft of weapons, scavengers usually picked the remains thoroughly. One of the best producers or weapons are river crossings though.
Our entire human race started off with one brother killing the other.

1 Samuel 17:4-6
A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp. His height was six cubits and a span. He had a bronze helmet on his head and wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels; on his legs he wore bronze greaves, and a bronze javelin was slung on his back.
I have never visualized the Bronze Age as a time of peace. The whole point of bronze was to make better tools for agriculture/building, and to make better weapons for war. I have always assumed that war was the major consideration.
Agree ( ;> )
Europeans have never stopped fighting until the United States put an end to it.
Watch out for the Belgium’s!
