FULL TITLE: Model receives rape and death threats for showing off her hairy legs in an Adidas ad - and is told she looks like a 'disgusting monkey'
A Swedish model has revealed how she's been subjected to death and rape threats after posing for an Adidas ad campaign with unshaven legs.
Arvida Bystrom, 26, a model and photographer, took to Instagram to reveal how she'd received a torrent of abuse after the campaign was released in which she reveals her hairy calves underneath a pair of pink ankle socks.
'Me being such an abled, white, cis body with its only nonconforming feature being a little leg hair,' she said. 'Literally I've been getting rape threats in my DM inbox.
'I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to not posses all these privileges and try to exist in the world. Sending love and try to remember that not everybody has the same experiences being a person.

To me, it looks like they photo-edited in someone else’s legs. I’d expect matching hair on her arms.

They’d screw a snake if someone would hold it for them.
It seems impractical to me, the hairs would probably get stuck in the lycra that is a part of so many of our lives. I don’t think she looks like a man though.
I knew a couple of Spanish women and they didn’t shave. They said that more an American thing. I didn’t think it looked good.
Decades ago only prostitutes shaved their legs there. We were there on vacation and a friend and I hadn’t heard the warning. We shaved our legs before heading down to the beach... too late. We headed back to the room quickly.
I had one too, the original version. It hurt like crazy, but in my case once I used it, nothing ever grew back. I guess it completely traumatized the hair follicles ;-)
I don’t like it, but it seems like anyone who has ever written something on the internet gets death threats.
Gillette needs to buy them out.
