In an interview with The Star on Friday, Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters made it clear that while hes under no obligation to explain why he sits during the national anthem, he thinks those whove heckled him and posted angry messages on social media have him all wrong. He also made it clear that he cant worry about how he is perceived.
In a conversation that was quintessential Peters honest, blunt, unapologetic he spoke about his ongoing protest for the first time since September 2016.
I aint trying to get into a back and forth conversation of me trying to prove that Im not being disrespectful or that I am being disrespectful toward the American flag, Peters explained as he sat at his locker. Man come on, man. Im an American, bruh. Im an African-American that was born in this wonderful country that we all can live in. How about we start all protecting each (expletive) other and come together, you feel me? It will be better for it.
Peters comments, with a handful of teammates looking on, came at the end of one of the most controversial weeks of his short NFL career.
After sitting on the bench during the anthem on Monday before the Chiefs beat Washington 29-20 on national TV, Peters night included giving up two touchdowns a rarity for the two-time All-Pro and cursing at a heckling fan.
Since then, Peters, 24, has taken note of the steady stream of criticism he has received. He also has grown tired of fielding questions about his anthem protest.

Bingo! And affirmative action quotas too. Add both and poof NFL!
So were the Rosenberg’s.
Yeah...an American Backstabber
Marcus Peters needs to get out of his comfort zone, join the Marines or Airborne and put his fat ass on the frontline. Then he’ll understand why the fans are heaping catcalls at him. Veterans don’t appreciate being disrespected for their service by a bunch of pampered, over-paid thumbsuckers.
an American...and a punk.
Sorry Marcus, but you are being disrespectful to the country that you were born in and claim to love. Do you feel me? Yes I agree that if we all stop blaming each other than it will be a better place. Whites have tried, apparently in vain, to accept blacks into their rightful place in society, however, it is time for blacks to start being truthful to themselves. Law enforcement by nature is suspicious of everyone, including me. I have been stopped by them, but when I do I am courtesy and non combative. The outcome is never one of contention by either party.
People like Peters are like many in America that have no understanding of the value of freedom.
But that’s been done on purpose by the left’s century-long power grab.

Hey Marcus,
**** me.

All you need to do, Marcus, is stand up. Not doing so IS IN FACT disrespectful to the United States of America. Find another way to protest. Braver men than you died for that flag—you cannot protest around that fact.
If you think cops are oppressing blacks, well understand, cops are NOT represented by that flag. That flag, to most people means so much more than cops, that your protest is seen as arrogant, stupid and Anti-American.
To those people, and I am one, I’d rather give up on football completely than let you disrespect the flag.
I WILL NOT WATCH. I WILL NOT SPEND A TIME.
Millions will follow me.
I don’t know what they can do to stop them. I don’t see any owners sitting or taking a knee. Isn’t it the league that has to enforce the rules?
:-)
.
He said he’s American, then immediately called himself an African- American.
These dummies are thinking that what goes on in the dressing room is somewhat how America feels. Now after their protests they are struggling to understand why people are not agreeing with them , and their egotistical minds.
Jerry Jones isn’t an owner?
When did he sell the Cowboys?
Poor guy. He’s so young to have brain damage.
That’s right, forgot about that pre anthem stunt.
He could have fooled me.
I thought he was just a dumbass.
