Odd looking object. I wonder if that's a comet?

Hilary wants to remind everbody that in 20 days, it will be her birthday. She’s making her rounds in a driverless carriage.

If it’s a comet, it’s a relatively small one. Certainly it’s not a meteor as there’s no atmosphere for it to “burn” in.

Definitely interesting.

And it could simply be an aircraft with vapor trail flying across the sky between the telescope and the moon.

If a comet passed between the moon and earth we’d be in trouble. Not a comet. A meteor(ite) if within the atmosphere would be burning. Outside the atmosphere it would have no tail. Not a meteor(ite)

We don’t know the angle of the view of the moon, nor the speed of playback on the video. It looks to possibly be sped up to make the object appear to be moving faster than it probably is.

We don’t know the magnification of the lens, if it’s a telephoto lens then the object is smaller that it appears in the video.

I think, due to the color of the moon and the wavering atmospheric distortion, that the moon was fairly close to the horizon.

My opinion/guess... airliner contrail shot with telephoto lens and video playback sped up.

Not a comet. They are millions of miles from earth, have extremely long tails, and couldn’t pass in front of the moon.

Let’s try
* A flock of birds
* A flock of insects
* A flock of bats

My cat when I stepped on its’ tail!

I’ve seen such a pattern high over grape fields in Napa Sonoma and it was spooky at first but turned out to be a HUGE “flock” of starlings (birds) flying super high in the sky, in such a “wormy” type pattern, they would then spin into a tornado shape and come down to attack (eat) grapes.

If you could see the raw video, you would see that the moon is moving across the field of view and the ‘object’ is stationary.

Someone subsequently zoomed and panned the video to make it appear that the moon was stationary and the object was moving.

It’s a small hair or piece of lint on the image sensor. Most likely shot with a digital SLR where the sensor is exposed when you change lenses.
