A thoroughly corrupt government/media/justice system is regarded with suspicion and cynicism by the people. And rightly so. The system has surrendered its moral authority.
Such a system is eventually going to collapse. It’s only a matter of time.

Similar to what the people in the USSR thought of their government in those last few decades.
Republics positively demand the trust and faith of the people. OTOH, trust and faith are absent under authoritarian regimes.
Our system has already collapsed. Self-government is gone. Congressional elections especially do little more than condone criminality.
Thus the reason for the 2nd Amendment!
