Mars missions should be all-female to avoid astronauts having SEX during 1.5-year journey...

While several Nasa missions have involved mixed crews, a secret report by the space agency suggests that missions to Mars could be all-female.

Speaking at a conference today, British astronaut, Helen Sharman, claimed that Nasa has filed a report that warns that male and female astronauts could get frisky during the one and a half year journey to the red planet.

The report claims that all-female crews would be the best option, as women work better as a team, and are less likely than men to fight over who is the leader.

Ms Sharman has never seen the report herself, but suggests that it was filed 'some years ago.'

Feasibility has nothing to do with it. Political correctness is everything.

Back in the old days - 1958 until 1964 when Project Orion was killed. Their motto was "Mars by 1965, Saturn by 1970." Three day trip to Mars. It would have cost the same or less than Apollo. Design and concept for nuclear explosion propelled vehicle. Concept, design and model built. System worked. Larger the better. Small 10,000 ton vehicle with crew of 150 planed, 40 million ton interstellar vehicle (which equals 265 supersized oil ships) was planned next with crew of thousands. Mega-tons of on board water would have been the shielding - hot showers available for all daily.

The major problem was steering the thing. The US's leading designer of small nuclear bombs left the field in protest. Was perceived as contravening the then new nuclear treaty. "Greatest failure of political will ever" - Freeman Dyson.

“Dumb” would be not taking absolute precaution against Martian life, if there is any, getting loose among the crew.
Those precautions would, secondarily, isolate Martian life from us.
Imagine what a DNA/RNA that could survive in that environment would do on Earth!
Doubt if anything good is found but it’s worth a look.

There’s no need for Humans on Mars for several decades. It can be explored by robots up to a point that won’t be reached for quite a while.

Eventually it will be populated, though it’s not very satisfactory.

That's a laugh! Ever try to serve on a church committee? Not even to mention turf wars at work, neighborhood boards, school committees, charities — you name it. Women can be vicious.

With all the carpet work and bad driving it may take twice that long to get to Mars if it were an all female crew.

“The report claims that all-female crews would be the best option, as women work better as a team, and are less likely than men to fight over who is the leader.”

Is no one aware of the thousands of years of experience where teams of men working together accomplish great things? Is there similar experience for women?

There is no absolute precaution against a manned craft splattering on the surface.

We really can’t send people until the decision has been taken to colonize and perhaps terraform the place. If that ever comes to be.

Actually if you want the BEST you want a balanced team

Men perform best when they have women to impress and women behave better when men are around.

We bring out the best in each other.

Does space flight affect menses, and if so would it be wise to put six women who will most likely have coinciding cycles in a confined space?

Oops, depressurized the airlock. Again. Bye Felicia...

Sally Ride and Steve Hawley were once married but never flew in space together. Jan David and Mark Lee were married and DID fly together on a shuttle mission. They are, so far, the only married couple to make that claim.
